An improved rating for this branch of WH Smith, it has been refurbished since my last review and the store does look a lot better on the interior, while it is still let down by high pricing and slow service including staff failing to understand how a coupon works to the point I was so close to walking away empty-handed on a recent visit, it has improved overall as a store. The overall selection is pretty good, especially considering a lack of a rival within the intu Trafford Centre for the stationary part of the business with no Ryman, Paperchase or The Works branches nearby. 3* read more

The thing you need to remember about WH Smith's is it's great for absolutely everything except books. Which is ironic, considering it's partly a bookstore. Okay, I'm not being fair - that depends entirely on the kind of books you like. If it's bestsellers; chick-lit, celebrity autobiographies, those 'painful memories' stories about child abuse, some frothy comedy or a bodice-ripper, you'll be fine for books here. However if you want stationery, greeting cards, DVDs, art supplies, even toys or a vast array of niche magazines, then you'll be spoilt for choice. This Trafford Centre branch is perfect for a mid-afternoon stop-off as it has a Superdrug nearby for cheap soft drinks, and a fountain just outside to sit on the edge of to read your new magazine. And believe me, in the hectic crowded atmosphere of the Trafford Centre, it's more than necessary. read more

Browsing at WH Smith couldn't be any further from browsing at bookstores like Waterstones. Whilst I'm usually spoilt for choice at the latter and come away wishing I had the pennies to buy another armful of new paperbacks, I struggle to find anything I want to read in Smiths! It's not that this branch doesn't have any books, it's just books I have zero interest in reading. We're talking cheap and cheerful chick lit, Mills and Boon romances, mainstream thrillers and crime capers, science fiction adventures, teenage fiction and lots of sports and celebrity biographies. In short, if you're after a book of stamps and The Secret Life of a Slummy Mummy (don't ask!), come here. If you're after a novel by Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, William Faulkner, F Scott Fitzgerald, Kurt Vonnegut, Jack Keraouc or Harper Lee, go to a bookstore run by book lovers. read more

W H Smiths is a great store, the one at the Trafford Store is massive and has a good selection of books, DVDs, Cd's and games. They also have a great range of stationary and magazines. The store is clean and tidy. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. read more

This WHSmith's is huge! They sell every type of book you could want along with stationary, music, DVD & some gift items. The staff are helpful if you are looking for a particular book or item & they sometimes have some good offers on. One thing you do have to watch with the offers is that they do discount it. I've gone in there & had to go back as they've not discounted the items correctly. The children's book selection particularly good & they have good guidelines to help you chose a children's book if you're not sure what to get. The store does get busy especially during sales & weekends & that can sometimes result in a long q's at the checkouts. Not the cheapest of shops for books but if you want to have a look at the books rather than buy online it's a good choice of book shop. read more

The WH Smith store at the Trafford Centre is huge. They stock a vast range of books, dvds, cds, stationery, games, magazines and newspapers. It is always well stocked and well laid out with plenty of friendly, helpful staff on hand to assist you. There is usually quite a long queue to be served, even more so at this time of year running up to Christmas. It is a good place to pick up some christmas presents but be prepared to wait! read more
