Light rock. Nothing to get excited about here but I like the fact that I can listen here at home in NH and also up in Vermont and Montreal when I visit. Minus 1 star for their horrid "Delylia at Night" syndicated radio sob story which is so depressing and so anti -gay.

I listen to this station all day at work Monday thru Friday 8 hours a day. I listen to this in the car while driving, and at home! Wherever I go, they go! It's that good!! You won't find a better station on the seacoast! You will never hear the same song twice in one day, but you will hear every song you ever grew up with. So nice they made a significant change, it was long over due!! I would give them 10 stars if it would let me. Love, love, love this station! They absolutely rock!! Little did we know it actually was going to be. Frank FM or as we affectionately call it, The Frank, plays all rock classics all the time. Seriously, the DJ would come on and say something like, "Coming up we have Queen, but right now here's some Bad Company!" Or, "We'll have Styx for you in just a minute, but right now we're playing BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive)!" We heard Chicago, Boston, The Cars, Led Zepplin. It was like they had bought all the Monster Ballad compilation disks and just looped them. Except I only ever heard one song repeated and I don't mean in that one drive. I mean in the entire week of driving I only heard one song repeated. They even played "Runaway" by Bon Jovi. Ask yourself have you ever heard that song on the radio? I sure haven't. I love new indie music, but the rock giants will always have a special place in my heart. And when that place feels empty I'll be streaming The Frank.

The array of programming is eclectic to say the least. The personalities of the DJ's alone are worthy of listening this station, which like New York City, "never sleeps".

Good news for me, WMPG has none of those things! In the interest of full disclosure, I do slave away behind the sound board in the early morning hours here playing all manner of subculture-y audio goodness (and a bit of badness) so that may make me a little bit biased. I came to WMPG as a volunteer because it's an awesome radio station that has a wide variety of programming that simply doesn't get air-time on commercial stations. They have something for everyone (except maybe eight year olds into Beiber - but there's plenty out there for kids with terrible taste), without those irksome commercials. And, while I may fall into convulsions at the sound of a bagpipe or a fiddle, I know that I can tune back in an hour or so later and hear something else. Plus, they actively encourage voices from the community. Real, genuine voices. And they are a friendly environment for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, physical mobility, age, gender, sexuality, politics, or personal quirks. That makes them super awesome in my book.

I am sad to admit that I worshipped this station for three months in my youth. Maybe the three months of darkness made the light of good music shine more brilliantly. Yet, it's just as likely that it did irreparable damage to my taste in music. If you have children, shut it off for them, and give them some Iggy and the Stooges for their fix of angst.
