It is geared towards women and nonbinary individuals and created a safe and supportive environment for them to grow their dreams and aspirations in, but it is open to any and all who want to check it out! Anyone can have access to the main floor of BasBlue, where there is an INCREDIBLE cafe to get delicious drinks and food from. There is also a ton of seating for you to enjoy your food and drink and to cowork from as well. If you want to become a member, the upper floors are open to you with more collaborative and private spaces for you to enjoy! It is a non-profit organization and just a gloriously safe and intentionally-curated space to foster creativity and amazing vibes. I always feel so at peace and centered when I'm at BasBlue and love to take meetings from here as often as I can! It's located very close to the DIA, but only open during the weekdays. So pay attention to their hours and if you're looking for a great place to work from or are interested in learning more about what a membership here could bring, definitely check BasBlue out!!

This is a very nicely renovated mansion turned into a woman's club. Like a late 1800's gentleman's club, only for women. There is a locker room/workout room/nursing area, but I did not see them because I am not a woman. They have lectures and groups within the club. They have a full kitchen, and the usual food on offer seemed like you would expect at a starbucks or better. They have drinks, coffee, and wine. The wine was higher end. And they use an ordering app so members at different rooms of the club can order easily. Lots of rooms. Dining and lecture rooms, lounge and club type rooms, conference rooms. A large event room. All really nice. There are smaller serving bars on the second and third floors. Depending on age, annual membership is 600 or 1200 dollars. It looked great. Maybe it could have used more restrooms, but that is sort of reaching for something negative to say.

Grand Circus - Coding bootcamp students collaborating on labs together.

Downtown Detroit

I want to take the time to WARN anyone considering going here…read more... This is a FOR PROFIT bootcamp, if you fail one test, you're out. Everything you paid for this program goes completely to waste. They keep all your money. Their creditors for the bootcamp are also THE WORST I've ever dealt with. I've made on time payments, never late once, and they have reported late and missing payments on my credit score not once, but twice! Their mistake is costing me the ability to buy a house! I have a family to take care of! I have been going back and forth with trans union trying to fix this, but I SHOULDN'T have to go through this just for trying to better myself professionally. All the resources that YOU paid for shouldn't be taken away just because you did bad on a test. Yes that's right, all resources provided are taken away if you fail. Even though they keep all your money. After I was done with the bootcamp, I did not give up, and let me also say you can learn SO MUCH MORE by going on YouTube and doing code alongs. Now that's it's been a year, and I've still been coding, I can totally tell you that they PURPOSELY over-complicate the learning process in this bootcamp to make their teaching more sellable. If you still desire to be taught by a teacher, please just do a little searching there are much better bootcamps out there that WONT charge you UNTIL you get a job. Not like this one. And don't even get me started on the staff that was there when I was. Please, do yourself a favor and choose another option to code...yes they've had people who've been successful in getting jobs, but MOST people of every bootcamp will not! And that's the truth. I am calling the better business bureau today on their creditors and a lawyer. Worst decision of my adult life was attending this bootcamp.

The diverse student base and the collaborative atmosphere make this a pleasant place to learn and grow. I like the vibe here. It's casual & community oriented. And the diversity of backgrounds & genders represented in it's membership, well, that makes this space stand out from the rest. The building itself is huge and divided into several floors. On the first floor you'll find casual co-working, some dedicated desks and tons of meeting rooms on the 1st floor. There's a large open kitchen and a pantry with fresh food for sale. Ping pong table & popcorn machine are a nice bonus. On 2nd through 5th floors you'll find the various sized private offices of nonprofit orgs, small businesses and larger orgs like the Ford Foundation and Henry Ford Medical. This is the place to run into people who are in business in Detroit, particularly folks at the intersection between academics and business. I am a co-working member, so I see this space primarily as a place to get good Wifi, use the printer and host client meetings, etc. It serves me well and it is a really great price for hot desk co-working. Two complaints: 1. There is an effort to help break the ice & introduce members to each other more often. This is an ongoing struggle, as it can feel very anonymous to work remotely at a co-working space. Right now there's a weekly popcorn & beer mingler on Friday afternoons and a bagel breakfast on Mondays. There's room for improvement in terms of creating real helpful connections between people though. 2. It can get crowded in the middle of the week and on days when a large group books the conference rooms. You'd be surprised how often a group of 40+ people hosts an event here. There's rarely a quiet day on the 1st floor. Overall this is a great space, good community and a nice taste of the Detroit business & nonprofit scene.
