I've lived in this area pretty much my entire life and did not discover this hidden gem until last year. It's conventionally located off beltway 8 near west road. Ample parking, walking trail, dog park with two sides, playground, and most importantly... lots of poke stops and 2 gyms!

I love this dog park. We have been a handful of times and have enjoyed each visit. It's nice because as you approach the dog park entrance, you can look down and see the current scene of the dog park. There are two dog parks - one for big and one small. There are plenty of benches all throughout the park, which is nice for pup parents. There are also 2 shaded pavilions with benches under them. Another thing I really like about this park is that they have fun obstacles to get your pup into agility training!

Plenty of benches and wonderful friendly people with their friendly pets! Worth my 30 minute drive! Very cleans and the only bad thing is that the parking place for the park is very small. Some people park at the business building next to the parking lot.

Nice, clean park for our little doggie to play in. Lots of space for both the small and larger dogs. There are covered benches to sit under as well. The weather was so nice today so it made it even much of a pleasure. It would be great if they had water fountains for the dogs but luckily we brought our own bowls and water. There are also a few muddy holes in which the dogs roll around in. Be prepared to clean them when you leave the park.

Great park for dogs small and big. They keep everything well managed. And even if you don't have a dog there are great trails to walk

Love the dog park, nice size, very clean, shaded areas with benches. Louis and I love coming to this park there are many obstacles courses for him to tackle and most of the time many friends to play with.

Puppy Skin Infection

Hey y'all.. I take my puppy to this park often, however, after I took her this last time (5/30/19), the next day she had a very serious skin infection that is still blistering.. i remember her laying in the grass and that they had just dug a bunch of holes in the ground (idk the landscaping term) but she's not feeling good AT ALL and was only in contact with 3 dogs that day... please be careful with your babies!!!!

Ask the Community - Westwillow Park

Is it usually busy? Are a lot of other dogs there when you are?

Sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't. Just depends on the day and time

Is this strictly a dog park or can a person skate and bike here?

The dog park is enclosed but it does have a trail that goes around it, people use it to walk or run. I have not seen anyone on skates or bike.

I visit this park frequently but for the past week and half there have been locks on the gates leading to the dog parks. Does anyone know why and when the dog parks will…

There is a small turfed area where dogs can run around and potty. The front area has tables and chairs for the humans to relax at. Inside they have a ton of doggy treats and a full dog menu. My dogs' favorite pup tail is the Doggy on the Beach and they also love Dog Shots! They also sell seltzers, beers, and nonalcoholic options for the humans. The owner is so sweet and you can tell he truly loves what he does. They have events for various occasions...the last event we went to was their Easter egg hunt and my dogs got a ton of treats! Be sure to follow their instagram for event details. Definitely a great place to come and socialize with other dogs (and humans).

For $9, your pup can have a specialty "puptail" of their choice: The Hawaiian Pawty Punch (antioxidants + almond milk), Doggy on the Beach (savory broth + carrots & peas) or the Mutt Mai Tai (tropical fruits + coconut milk). For a dollar less, you can also order a canned Good Boy Dog Beer. For humans, they serve canned and bottled beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We ordered the Doggy on the Beach for our two pups, but after a few sips, they weren't too content with their order. They typically love savory, but this special blend was bland. Though intentions are well, the dog bar could offer a lot more. For one) parking-- there is none, as their lot is used for their patio. Two) They do not sell food for the pups, but they have the potential to expand their menu 3) Due to the limited space, they do not offer indoor seating, and the outdoor seating they do have are three frugal ables with a few seats.

Nah, this ain't it…read more My deep gratitude to the city for curating experiences with dog owners which includes thoughtfully creating a separation between large and small dogs. This is a fairly accessible dog park, and with plentiful dedicated parking, which is really appreciated. Unfortunately, the park smells quite bad (probably because it is well trafficked), but there are also places (at least on the small side) where owners have not picked up after their pups, which adds to the sense the place is not sanitary. The pond is a nice touch, but as above, I worried about the cleanliness of the water. I am so glad the city curates spaces like this, but there are much nicer spaces in the city to take your pup!

To make matters worse, one of the other regulars confirmed that it happens often which was evident by the mounds of glass is random parts of the parking lot. Called the cops. No one came after 30+ minutes. They know and they don't care. Never again!!!! I am new to Houston and this was my biggest fear. Protect yourselves!

In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. When you purchase your ticket online you choose one of the available times, upon entry they give you 30 minutes, the time passed quickly. Be ready if you are taking pictures or better yet, a video. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

Coming in at a hefty 65-70lbs of questionable coordination, expert intellect, and pure speed, it's been a challenge mentally and physically exhausting my active Border Collie mix. Unfortunately even after his very active dog dad's runs combined with a generous backyard and playdates with his fur friend, he's got more remaining energy in one paw than I have in an entire month. This park is fabulous regardless of if your fur baby is this active, or prefers to relax on a bench undisturbed (although a division for the two play styles is the only thing I'd suggest adding). As others have mentioned, the dog beach, shaded benches, dog runs, trail, doggy showers, and overall cleanliness of the park are impressive. Additionally most dog parents are as trained as their pups, remaining attentive, and polite. Just be sure to watch the water if your pup is overconfident in their swimming abilities.
