I prefer it because there's no pressure of small talk and I don't hear constant gossipy crap. It's men wearing T shirts and baseball caps who want a haircut. It's ok just to sit and wait in silence instead of feeling like you have to fill the air waves with small talk. Masculinity at its best! You can wait for a specific barber, or simply go for whoever is open. It's a small place so if you go on a Saturday you could have a 20 minute wait. Cuts are $13, so I tip well. How much do they care about you if you don't tell them exactly what to do? If I walk into a Hair Cuttery and do that, usually it's a quick 5 minute cut, get me out the door, easy turnover. (You can get lucky at a place like that, but the good barbers are usually booked with appointments.) First time I walked into Razors Edge and sat down, they probably worked on my head for a good 45 minutes. Since then, I've had my hair cut by essentially everyone there and it's always the same story. The care they put into each cut for every customer is unmatched by anywhere else I've gone. (And if you're curious, I ended up getting a fade most of the time, it's definitely one of the bread-and-butter cuts at this shop and they do an excellent job.) Yes, this means they usually work on every customer for at least 30 minutes, often much longer. And yes, this means that there can be a wait! Expect a short wait at most times even if you have an appointment, and a long wait if you don't. Appointments can be made easily from their website, so you can find a time where you won't have to sit around.
