Bad service the owner came in at 2 o'clock in the morning. Said it was the wrong room. i'm pretty sure there's cameras in the room.

The GM, Vivian, has delicious homemade chili and cold bevies ready for customer appreciation night when we arrived during supper time on a Wednesday. My kids are picky and they LOVED her chili! She even let us take a bowl up to our room to have after swimming - so sweet of her! After getting a bite to eat, we headed for the pool, slide, and hot tub for a couple of hours! The water was too cold for hubs (I admit I'd like it warmer as well). The kids and I splashed and swam until closing at 10pm. We then headed up to our bright and clean double queen room and heated up our chili and snuggled into bed to watch a movie. In the morning, we snuck in another swim and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which included eggs, sausage, potatoes and had a waffle station with chocolate, caramel, strawberries, sprinkles and whipped topping (wish it had been real whipped cream, however). The staff were friendly, the food pretty darn good, and the amenities clean and bright! We all commented that we would love to do the same Staycation here again and I think we probably will!

The service has always been accommodating but I've had to deal with these females at the front desk on occasion and the service my coworkers get (they're all white mind you) and what I receive vastly differs. I'm easy an can usually brush things off but first thing in the am you don't need a condescending person talking to you sideways and looking down on you for no damn reason. If it wasn't for work I'd never stay here ever. Hottelo is awesome Pomeroy not so much.

Come on a special night & find unlimited garlic shrimp, baby back ribs or sausage! (The steaks are not all you can eat, but everything else on the line is!) This blast from the past is like walking into a saloon in an old Western, with tons of nostalgia adorning the walls. The buffet lines are kept constantly full and clean and even the food choices feel like a retro potluck. Don't let the casual experience fool you, these are fine dining quality steaks without the pricetag. Two seatings, an early one with a 2 hour limit or a later one that leads into a karaoke evening. Think church social meets family reunion meets country bar. It's such a unique and fun night and an absolute gem in the province. Something I feel is important to address: small, rural towns can sometimes feel uncomfortable to outsiders on whether it is a safe space. I can say that we've been going for years and have never been made to feel like we don't belong. Staff & patrons have always been friendly and welcoming. Check their website for upcoming dates & call to make reservations (they sell out often, you definitely need rezys) Note: they are a minors prohibited establishment.

I don't travel much. The most important thing to me for a hotel stay is my sleep, since I can…read more"not-sleep" anywhere. So the comfort of the bed and room temperature are key. Both were great here. I especially like the all white bedding (sheets, blanket, AND bedspread), because you can SEE that they are clean. I've never seen that before in a motel/hotel as they usually have dark coloured bedspreads to hide dirt. My room was great. King bed, sofa, desk, dresser, TV, wired & wireless Internet, mini-refrigerator, microwave oven, Kurig coffee maker, dresser, wardrobe, full bath, HVAC. My only complaint is that the bathroom lights flicker and click four to five times when turned on before staying on, which is annoying. I didn't use the pool, hot tub, and waterslide, but looked in on them. They are basic, but interesting. I didn't look at the workout room. The free breakfast was, well, fuel for the body. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage patties were kind of plain, which is I guess is the point, so they don't turn anyone off. They had a bottle of Asian hot sauce there, but I was too "chicken" to try it, so I just stuck with ketchup. Bagel, toast & OJ were OK. I didn't try to make a waffle, and I didn't try the cold cereal. I would have liked some fruit, though. If I need to stay the night in Camrose again, this will be where I will stay.

The reception was rude, condescending and ignorant! I'll equipped to handle her job. Definitely…read morerequires lessons in manners and professionalism. One of my worst experiences ever in dealing with someone in the hospitality industry.

She told us that Wednesday is customer appreciation day so there are free pizza, chicken wings, wine and beer. They had generous quantities so my wife and I happily enjoyed what could amount to a free light supper. After the refreshments we went to our room which is huge. It has a king sized bed, two big screen TV's and a couple of desks. There were no odours and the room seemed clean to us. The hotel has strong Wi-Fi, a pool, laundry facilities, and many other amenities. If you come here to use the hospital just mention that fact and there is a ten percent discount. As an aside, the Vermilion Hospital is used by people from the City of Edmonton because the city hospitals are so busy and many rural hospitals are nearly empty. It's a clever way to boost business in the town and that's the reason why I'm here. Sadly it means that I can't partake in the free hot breakfast tomorrow morning because the hospital said no food for me until after the surgery. At least my wife can enjoy it. Well back to the hotel. This is similar to hotels found in cities so it seems like it's oversized for a town of only 4,500 people but I'm sure they've done their homework and decided that there is enough business potential here. When I called around I found that the other hotels in town were only slightly less expensive, and actually more expensive when you factor in the free hot breakfast. I recommend the Pomeroy to anyone staying the night in town. I hope I don't have a medical reason to stay in Vermilion again but if I do, this is where I would certainly go to for my lodging.

While there are some minor details I had issues with, my main problem was the Wifi and the bed. I couldn't stay here again, since I can't do anything on a computer, can't work, can't surf the web, can't watch TV - nadda. Bed also made me quite uncomfortable, barely got any sleep and was exhausted the next day. I was actually tempted to check out and stay somewhere else for my second night - but since it had been paid for in advance, didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to get a refund. Made the best of it and was more than happy to get back home. (Read a more detailed review on our blog: http://lonesomecow.ca/2016/07/4751/)

They provide "breakfast" BUT in reality they just send you to the gas station cafe to pick it up. The breakfast is fast food style and basically 1 breakfast sandwich, a freezer hash brown & a muffin. It would be more secure if it required a key FOB. No one was available at the front desk because we were a late check in. I called the Super 8 and there was no answer. There was a note to visit the next door Esso (shouldnt their phone be automatically set up to forward to Esso after hours?). The people at the Esso were nice, but this set up does not meet the standards of a conventional Super 8. The breakfast was also offered in the Esso gas station. The staff was friendly, but I was not expecting to eat breakfast at a gas station diner. The food was decent and there were options to purchase from the regular menu with a discount, which i appreciate, but it's not the conventional hotel breakfast. Such details should be made explicit to guests when booking. The room was clean, but 1 of the towels looked less than clean. There are no towel racks to hang towels. The beds were comfy, but the air conditioner was so loud I was unable to sleep. The air conditioner was located under the window and it blew the curtains open. I used the TV remote to keep the curtains shut. The staff was all very nice. However, I don't think this accommodation meets the expectations of the Super 8 brand or a conventional 2 star rating.
