It's been cleaned once or twice throughout this whole year. The rooms are nice, the common areas are pretty gross though.

We couldn't access the basement because of a strong weed smell, and there was a persistent weed odor on the porch as well. When we reported this, they simply directed us to the police station without taking any action. Even though we had a porch, it wasn't ours -- it was used as a shortcut by random people. 3. During our stay at 414, S 4th St, our newly purchased car was vandalized. When we reported it, they took no further action. Simply did some big talk. 4. When we vacated the apartment with a toddler and a 9-year-old, we cleaned it thoroughly, almost like new, and I have photo evidence. They should have been ashamed of how far we went with the cleaning. 5. The biggest fraud came after we left. They failed to return our security deposit. When I asked about it, they kept saying the address I gave was returning their letters, even though all our bills from Ames arrived without issue. Eventually, I asked them to send it to my friend, and they finally did. 6. The real surprise came then, and their story about cats and bulls was exposed. They deducted the full $1260 from our deposit and presented fake cleaning and pest control bills (we never got any pest control during our stay). Management companies usually do monthly pest control, but not Martin Property! 7. When asked for an explanation, I received rude behavior from them. They do not even know the proper etiquette for talking to their tenants as soon as they vacate the apartments. Please be cautious with this management company and its rental properties. It's unlikely you'll get your security deposit back, as the owners and staff often behave unprofessionally and are a bunch of FRAUDS. Not a single day goes by where we don't have some sort of problem.Not a single week goes by without them shutting the water off. They will randomly add false water charges and other types of charges with no heads up. They gave me late fees after they added false charges to my account after my autopay already went through. This has happened a couple times and I had to manually get it fixed myself. If you ever need anything fixed hopefully you have a full week or two before anyone shows up. The laundry machines have never once worked in 300 Stanton, I've lived here for a year and never one time has all the washers and dryers worked. The laundry is definitely the absolute worst part. Don't expect the dryers to dry your clothes ever and that's if they are even usable in the first place. Absolutely terrible for the insane price. I wouldn't recommend this apartment to my worst enemy. I would've given 0 stars if that was an option. Counting the days till my lease is up!

Most of them must have been resolved or fixed by the new management that has taken over, which I believe happened recently. Most reviews on here are a few years old, and from my experience they are no longer relevant. I've enjoyed living here a lot and same goes for my roommates. Pretty sure it's all mostly students living here, and their roommate matching system is also nice, or you can share a place with any friends of your choice. Samantha, who is on staff, has been super helpful with things like helping me finalize a lease and getting the roommates I wanted. Her and the rest of the staff are all super nice and helpful, they also respond quick to any questions or things like maintenance requests. There is a Cyride station right out front that takes you to campus in like 10 minutes, I use it everyday it's free for students and super easy to use. It's also pretty close to the moonlight express route which goes until 2:30am on the weekends. You can also park your car right outside of your building and there is never issues with the parking lot being to full, I even have friends over who park here all the time. Sometimes we can be loud but I have noticed the walls are pretty thick because you can't hear much from your neighbors, which all of mine are cool anyway. I would also say their rent is fairly cheap for what you get, the apartments are decently nice but have tons of space. I'm in the 4x2 and the kitchen and living room are pretty big, also good size bedrooms and bathrooms. I suggest checking The Madison out, I would get out of the dorms, this is much cheaper and way better!

Maintenance has locked us out of rooms and have let our cats out by just leaving doors open. It took them months to "fix" our stove and didnt even fix it. The management is incredibly incompetent and doesn't do anything when there are issues. They are charging over $3,000 in damages and cleaning charges when there is no way the damages are that much. They didnt give an itemized receipt for damages either. Utilities are not done through the city and they overcharge you, my 3 bed Utilities were around 400 a month even when we were gone. They come into your apartment without any warning and do things without your permission. The pool was open a total of 2 months the entire 2 years i lived there. The windows dont close tight and the screens dont stay on the windows. My AC was broken more than it worked and their solution was a window unit which makes the already high utilities higher. The smoke alarms would go off even if we weren't cooking or in the kitchen at all. Overall just dont live here, they charge way too much and I've never known anyone who has enjoyed living here. I really hope people stop renting here.

If you've had a tough day, Welch Ave is only two blocks away with plenty of bars and places to eat. Super close to get to, yet just far enough to not hear the music on crazy weekends. Most of the Frat houses and Sorority Circle are nearby. Cyride stops are just around the corner from the front door. This is by far the best location in Ames an Iowa State student could ask for. The apartments are spacious and, although slightly dated, very well taken care of. The service from the building managers, Alyssa and Sam, is impeccable. Alyssa puts a lot of effort in making living at University Towers homey, from her Christmas parties, to the bowl of candies she occasionally puts out for residents, and her always cheerful smile and attitude. If there's ever anything that needs fixing, count on Sam to be there for you. The permanent residents here are like family, and they generously provide home cooked meals every month in the hospitality room. They are also wonderful to talk to, and will enchant you with their life stories over coffee three times a week or a game of bridge. There is both outdoor and indoor parking, as well as a workout room, and a swimming pool. Rent is extremely reasonable especially considering the location, and most apartments have their own private balconies. I absolutely love my apartment!

The master bedroom was able to fit my daughters bed, our bed, a desk and its chair, a night stand and a dresser. All with of this and the room still has some space. The other bedroom also has a space for a desk and a nightstand, along with a king size bed. What is also great are the storage rooms. Other than the small ones, there's a big storage room that fits all our luggage, boxes, toys, books, etc. I was also keen to have an apartment with a washer/dryer in unit. That was a high necessity for us as a family with kids. Wendy, the property manager, is friendly and helpful. Just the right kind of manager you wish to have in the place you call home (away from home). Ryan handles the maintenance stuff on site. Cool and friendly man. I feel safe and comfortable to know he enters the apartment whether I am there or not. Any issue I had, small or big, was fixed the same day or the following day. They also have regular pest control (an outside company), so no bug issues. [I live on the second floor so don't know about the 1st floor though]. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Never had any trouble with any neighbors. Although my kids are probably making noise and bothering our downstairs neighbors, they never complained. I am so grateful for that. Plenty of space for parking. Never had to park away from my building. 2 bus stops going to campus; they are 2-3 minutes walking distance. Another 2 bus stops go towards the mall/walmart. Same walking distance. You can still walk to the mall or campus if you'd like. About half an hour walking distance. So even if you depend on taking your bike or walk, it's not too far. I like their new website that helps pay and keep track of monthly rent, as well as submitting maintenance requests. There is a children park in the community. Not the best, but something nice if you just want to take the kids out without taking the car and going somewhere. The only downside I would say that the apartment is not new. Like cabinets and stuff are not new. Yet the apartment is clean and good. What was important for us also that the heater is central (you know the kind coming from the ceiling not the ones on the floor). My electric bill was always very affordable and there was a washer and dryer located right in the building. There's also a room with a storage compartment for each unit - this is a great place to keep your moving boxes so you don't have to throw them out and get new ones. The staff in the office was always very friendly and the maintenance crew was very quick to come fix my heater when it stopped working. They were also quick at returning my security deposit after I moved out. They also check things very thoroughly during the move out walk through so make sure you clean well!
