I did purchase a perilla plant for my aunt and one for myself. Perilla (Perilla frutescens) is an aromatic herb from the mint family, known by many names like shiso, beefsteak plant, and Chinese basil, and is popular in Asian cuisine for its distinct flavor. It's an annual plant with colorful, serrated leaves that can be green, purple, or bicolored, used fresh in salads, soups, and with fish, or for its seeds and oil. While edible and used in cooking, some varieties are considered invasive in North America and can be toxic to livestock.

Visited recently late on a Sunday ( maybe an hour before they closed) Great location with plenty of parking. Besides fresh produce, it also has fresh fish, a seafood restaurant, and a few other specialty shops. Open 7 days a week, I would go all the time if I lived in the area. But like most farmer's markets, "most" prices are no cheaper than your local grocery store, but the selecatiosn here are great. Espeially now in the Fall with tiomns of pumpkins & gourds, Saw stands with huige selections of plants & shrubs for home gardens & landscaping. Bought some fresh NC corn & honey. One stand had a HUGE selection of almost every pepper I ever heard off. Cant wait to go back. ( no pets!)

I found that an elderberry vendor was here (and said they were each week) along with a micro greens farmer made this very helpful and a realistic alternative to the raleigh farmers market for those of us on this side of the triangle. I really recommend this as an addition to the normal shopping as it seems to be a reliable place to get food for the house.

Today we stopped & scored some amazingly awesome strawberries that had just been picked from the field, they were unloading baskets of these sweet babies right out of the back of a pick-up truck while we were standing there, still had dew on'em from just being freshly picked from the berry patch.
