Closed on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, this is definitely the poor relation in the Islington Libraries family. There is a big hall in the basement which isn't used and was the source of a gas leak a few weeks back. There's an organisation on the top floor that you can't visit either, but the children's library is separate which is no bad thing. Good selection of dvds, all the papers, nice comfy leather chairs, but only three computers for the internet, and the librarian tends to let anyone on, regardless of whether they are a library member or not. Beautifully located just round the corner from lovely Thornhill Square, and plenty of shops on Cally Road for between paper snacks. The photo is of a burnt out bike that was parked just outside a few months ago. Islington has its problems just like everywhere else. Or maybe Ghost Rider was returning his overdues. read more
