I dislike writing bad reviews, but people need to know how "Hearing Life" in Aberdeen, WA treats…read morepatients on Medicaid. I have a severe hearing loss in my right ear. I have known for many years that I need a hearing aid. I was referred from "West Coast Hearing Clinic" who also refused to order hearing aids. I was told I was being sent to "Hearing Life" to be fitted for hearing aids. I explained I had had a hearing test already but Richard Baker seemed confused why I was there and wanted to perform his own tests. He had the notes from my doctor in front of him that showed I had just had a test 2 months ago, so I do not know why he wanted his own test. I suppose I should have refused, but I did not as I assumed he was going to help me. The test performed by Richard Baker proved again my hearing loss. However, he tells me Medicaid will not pay for a hearing aid. When I contacted Medicaid they told me there was no reason my hearing aid should be denied and he should just submit the paperwork to them. When I called to let them know Medicaid was more than willing to work with me to get a hearing aid, I was told I would receive a call back to make an appointment to get the hearing aid. I have never been called back. So far, the paperwork for a hearing aid has not been submitted. It is clear why he does not want to help when he told me the cheapest hearing aid would cost at least $1,200. He then proceeds to tell me I should learn to live with not being able to hear out of one ear andI should just adjust. I am 50 years old and adjusting has been very difficult and is not an option and should not be when I have insurance. I find that statement cruel and hypocritical from a man who wears hearing aids!!!!.Also he kept bragging they were a "charity organization" yet where is the charity when they refuse to accept Medicaid for an expensive hearing aid? If clinics do not want to accept Medicaid, then they should make that clear up front and not even waste someone's time with a hearing test. If you need hearing aids, I suggest calling around and asking first if they are willing to help you purchase the aids, not just perform the hearing test.
