The pastor is very intelligent, definitely someone who knows a lot about theology and bible study. The worship is basically standard contemporary style, think Chris Tomlin. The sermons are very much expository style, usually preaching through one book at a time. Again, bible study is definitely a strength of the pastor. As far as theology goes, think John Piper or Wayne Grudem. They are reformed, but not really the types that obsess all the time about being a pure 5-point Calvinist. They are certainly not cessationists, but you probably won't hear anyone shouting in tongues during their services. There is no pressure with the offerings. They are really open about finances and the budget. Demographically there are a lot of families there, many homeschoolers I think. Mainly professional suburban families, if I recall correctly. Since the last review was posted, they have gotten a nice building right near Bradford Common. I think that attendance is around 100ish at this point, too.

Since then, I've made quite a few friends and found it to be a warm and caring community. (You know, like all good churches should be?) UUCH is just such a good church. :-) You'll likely be comfortable whether you are Christian by faith (like Reverend Frank), or an atheist like me. The church services make an effort to include everyone that is seeking truth and love and meaning. Oh, and they put on a really good coffee hour each week!

The church does great service in the community - from serviing a twice monthly hot meal to the homeless, to social justice educational movies and talks on Friday nights, and outreach in so many ways. Even with the difference in doctrine, this church is welcoming, bi-lingual, and very friendly. The pastors are also very helpful and compassionate. I recommend this church to anybody who wants to try something new and warm. It is also good for families as they have an up-and-coming children's community.
