The staff here gives excellent service. The atmosphere is warm and and they are efficient preparing orders. The menu is packed with a variety of options, from sandwiches to breakfast and sides. This is a small deli in Manhattan, primarily catering to grab-and-go customers. We stopped by for coffee and a quick bite. The menu offered coffee, morning burritos, breakfast sides, hot sandwiches, omelettes, paninis, and pastries. Overall, it was an average experience. The staff weren't very friendly, and while the sandwiches were okay and the coffee decent, the pastries left much to be desired; they didn't taste as fresh as advertised. Order was delivered and I'm very disappointed that the bread was burnt and I couldn't enjoy my sandwich. I tried my best to pick the scorched parts off, but it still had the burnt taste and I ended up having to just throw the sandwich away. I came here for lunch with my family. We expected it to have seating inside but it was more like a walk-in and leave place with some grocery items. It was a little hectic because it was crowded and we had a large group, but it felt very NYC. I got a turkey sub with some toppings on it. They have a large menu of sandwiches which all looked great, but I wanted to build my own instead. The sandwich was massive! I wish I shared with someone. But overall it was fantastic. The West Bank Gourmet doesn't serve food from Palestine's West Bank. I was hoping for some spicy shwarma, shish tawook, and some chai. Instead, I got a breakfast bagel with a generous dollop of tangy cream cheese, and a large cup of piping hot coffee for a few dollars. Not a bad deal! They offer a wide variety of breakfast foods- burritos, egg white breakfast sandwiches, and eggs in nearly every fashion you'd expect out of a deli. Thank goodness for this place. Super conveniently located for me, this little market has saved me from mornings where I find myself with no milk for my coffee or eggs for my...eggs...a million times over. On top of the staples like milk, eggs, bread and cheese, they have a small selection of fruit and vegetables which, in a pinch, work just fine. It is the only place I can shop without walking at least 10 minutes. Living in Manhattan, you get used to things like walking to the end of your block to your 24 hour grocery store. While this place isn't 24 hours, it is open until 11pm (I believe), making it one of the few (if any other) places in the area to get a last minute item at night. Or corn starch if you spill olive oil all over your kitchen floor and google that the best way to clean it is with corn starch and pray to the Lord that they have it and then they do and you do a little happy dance that West Bank Gourmet exists. I have not had their savory food/sandwiches, but I have had their house baked cookies and they are pretty good--my favorite being the smores cookie. They also have a little section with pharmacy stuff, which is always good to have available, especially in an area that has such few pharmacies. Overall, gets a much needed job in it's area, done. read more

The West Bank Gourmet is located next to my home, so the convenience might be reflected in my starring of this place. Very friendly staff, and willing to help. They carry a small food and household products. Ideal when you run out of stuff, or crave that pack of chips late at night... Prices are - as expected in FiDi - not the cheapest. The sandwiches and the deli selection are ok. The tuna salad is amongst the best in the neighborhood. Unfortunately there is no seating area (check the battery place market across the West Highway if that's what you are looking for). Drycleaners + clothes repairs as well. read more

The very liberal use of the word gourmet is surprising. I mean I got a simple dish so it might not be their showstopper specialties. But I guess I had high expectations. The grilled cheese was likely kraft slices in white bread. No big deal. Satisfying. Not overly buttered. Perfect for picky kids. The chicken soup was inoffensive. Like say you got out of the hospital and needed something that wouldn't cause your pancreatitis to flare up. Here you go! I would have liked a but if salt in it, but you know, I didn't specify. The macaroni salad isn't the coleslaw I had asked for, but whatever. Maybe my office mate will eat it. So basically you won't die, but you won't crave it.
