This Cardiff-based charity was founded back in 1978 by a small group of local jazz musicians and enthusiasts, and ever since the organisation has been working hard to promote the development and appreciation of live jazz music, spanning all styles.
The organisation organises the only six-nights-a-week jazz venue in Wales: the fantastic Cafe Jazz at the Sandringham Hotel on St Mary Street in the city centre. Their programme at this venue offers some wonderful nights of jazz featuring Welsh-based musicians and international touring artists, with gigs all year round.
The shows are open to everyone - but society members have a National Jazz Card that gives them concessions at this and most other jazz venues (and festivals) throughout the UK. The best site for jazz gig listings is http://www.jazzservices.org.uk/LiveJazz/GigListings/tabid/101/Default.aspx rather than the society's own website. read more
