My experience with Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi has been pleasant and satisfactory…read more I went under Dr. Bruce Mertz after my lifelong family doctor down the street (Schulze Sr.) finally retired and I have the former office to thank for the good referral. Dr. Mertz sets his patients at ease. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, offers prevention advice, and has a very proficient practice. The paperwork that is shared with the patient is modern and easy to follow. The admin help visibly work off the options of the health insurance I am using. The low waiting times with the waiting room and exam room have been impressive versus what I read of elsewhere. The overall operation is set up to run efficiently, which is too rare in the healthcare industry. The waiting area is large, clean and well-kept. I would recommend this practice to family and friends.

I was waiting hours and hours in the waiting room of my previous family practitioner and it was becoming a burden. He was a wonderful physician but the wait time was just too much. Luckily I found Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi and was accepted as a new patient. That was about six months ago. Both my wife and I switched to Dr. Mertz. Dr. Mertz is fantastic. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, and has a very proficient practice. Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Mertz several times since becoming his patients and every time we only spent five to ten minutes in the waiting room and only a couple minutes in the exam room before Dr. Mertz came in. I only wish I had found Dr. Mertz when I retired to Corpus Christi in 2005. My life would have been much better from a medical standpoint. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his staff and the waiting area. His staff is wonderful in every regard. And the waiting area is large and clean. If you're considering Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi, don't hesitate to give them a call. And by all means as to be assigned to Dr. Mertz.

My mother went in to see Dr. Hendricks on a Tuesday with low BP and shortness of breath. She said…read moreit will go away and prescribed 2 different inhalers. By Monday at 1am we were calling EMS because she couldn't breath and her chest was hurting. She was admitted to ICU. After many many, many test we found out she had fluid around her heart. My mother was on Lasix but it was generic. She kept telling Dr Hendricks that she couldn't urinate and the dr just blew it off every time. So because she was put on the generic and this dr chose to not treat her properly she ended up in the hospital for over a week with fluid in her lungs, fluid around her heart and her BP was very low, she also had a pulse rate of 152. After we brought her home I asked to see a print out of every BP, O2 levels and pulse rate from Dr Hendricks. Her O2 levels started to drop gradually in Sept of 2017. She was being treated for high BP and Dr Hendricks had her on not 1 but 3 BP meds and after adding the 3rd her BP was about 81/50 for almost a year. Which for some reason her nurse thought that was perfectly fine. After taking her off of 2 BP meds and decreasing the 3rd we now have a normal BP reading. Thanks to this incompetent Droctor my mom is now on Oxygen at home and she is still very weak and may not be around much longer, so thank you Dr Hendricks for the horrible care. You don't need to be a Doctor and your staff is extremely rude. Please do not allow her to treat you or anyone you know.

I was impressed with how thorough and patient he was with her, so I made an appointment with him and have been his patient ever since. If you see Dr. Oloyo, you will receive top-notch, comprehensive care. He is patient, kind, thorough and tremendously knowledgeable. He makes it a point of asking detailed questions and of LISTENING to what you tell him. He has the ability to manage multiple and complex problems that a patient may have, and he demonstrates genuine care and concern I encourage you to go to South Texas Medical Associates. He also put his dirty hands...didn't wash between patients, used dirty stethoscope....all over her face for no reason. He also looked on the front of her stomach for her nephrostomy tube hole-a dr that doesn't know this is on the back should not be in business! She had to spell out then write down how to even spell Nephrostomy to the nurse. We waited two hours to be seen and he didn't listen to her at all, kept cutting her off. He only cares about money. Glad she is reporting him for negligence. His er and primary care clinic need to be investigated. I think he is committing fraud. I also think this is a great place to go if you want the FLU OR CORONA VIRUS SOON SINCE HE DOESN'T WEAR GLOVES OR WASH HANDS BETWEEN PATIENTS!

I was fortunate to find Dr. Boriack about ten years ago. He treats both me and my husband. He has…read moreguided me through a number of medical crises and he is very good at diagnosis. He stays on top of the meds we are required to take and carefully monitors our lab results to be sure we are aware of any side effects and/or need to alter medications. He is a "hands on" doctor and will give you as much time as is needed to explore your issues and find the proper resolution. He is a Christian and asks if you would like to pray with him at the start of each visit. If that makes you uncomfortable, you may decline. I appreciate a doctor who asks for God's help in treating me and who acknowledges a higher power. I have truly been blessed to find Dr. Boriack with all his wisdom and experience. He has assisted me in finding alternative solutions to my heart blockage... (cleared the blockage) ... and helped me find appropriate supplements to avoid prescription drug side effects for thyroid and High Blood Pressure. Dr. Boriack effectively treats my Fibromyalgia and my Arthritis. He does not dictate. He listens, and as a team, we choose the best solution for my needs. Dr. Boriack is patient, kind and caring. He is worth waiting for if there are others in line before you. He has also recommended several fine specialist who assist me with other issues. Cardiologist Rafael Coutin, who is a really great heart doctor. Also, at my request, Dr. Boriack led me to Dr. Harlan Burhans, a chiropractor, who has successfully addressed my spinal fractures with stem cell patches. I do recommend Dr. Boriack to my friends. With years and years of experience combined with his willingness to learn and be receptive to new and modern treatments -- he works with his patients to develop a total health plan. Okay, so he's not young and his hearing isn't all that it used to be and his body, like all of us, has taken its licks over the years. I can tell you that inside is a mind sharp and youthful. He has not only been a wonderful doctor who has helped me choose the right supplement program but who has also led my wife and I to specialists who are leaders in their field of expertise. Doctor Boriack takes a holistic approach to your health. If you want a doctor who will help guide you to taking charge of your health, who will treat you like a special person, and who cares for his patients deeply, then Doctor Boriack is your man. On the other hand, if you are a stress monster and don't have the patience to wait, often times up to an hour, to see him, then you can do one of two things: (1) make sure you get the first appointment of the day or (2) go to a different doctor. There are lots of doctors out there who are willing to herd you through quickly, if quick is what you want. But don't expect that from Doctor Boriack. Discussing ailments and developing correct treatment plans takes time. So while you're sitting in the waiting room, read a book or magazine or just take the time to actually relax. Or perhaps strike up a conversation with the other patients waiting to be seen. Either way, Doctor Boriack is worth waiting for. I've been treated by hundreds of doctors during my military career and during my life as a civilian. None have been as caring, effective and efficient as Doctor Boriack. Doctor Boriack is in his eighties. My only regret about that is knowing that some day he'll have to retire and I'll have the impossible task of finding a doctor as competent as him. He's been my doctor for about eight years and my wife's doctor even longer. He appreciates that we are both smart enough to research and guide our wellness. He provides his input and years of experience to provide us with multiple perspectives. Choosing a doctor is no easy task. And it takes several appointment to develop a relationship with a new doctor. He's not a magician, he's a doctor. He'll expect you to be his co-pilot as you work together optimizing your health. He has also been a mentor. Although I'm 63 years young, it's nice to have someone a few years senior who can make sure I steer straight and true. I've come to count on his advice and he's never failed me.
