I use the centre for swimming as I'm trying to lose some weight. The pool seems fine. It's wet and pool like and smells of chlorine so ticks all the boxes there. The changing rooms however, are truly hideous, there is soap scum and hair floating around the blocked drainage in the showers, chewing gum stuck to the cubicles along with (moisturiser?? hopefully!) splashes, and random puddles of what I affectionately now call 'skank water' across the changing rooms that you have to dodge. I have to stop running the water halfway through the shower to try and let some water drain away, as I don't want to be ankle deep in shared shower gunk and other people's hair. Not my thing. There is also a weird funky smell as if someone has used hair removal cream that sometimes wafts through the changing rooms, though this sometimes changes to a strong smell of urine, which if you catch on a particularly bad day can also be smelled as you're doing your lengths in the pool. Overall, just filthy. I continue to use the pool as it is so close to me and fits into a busy schedule, but I don't enjoy it. I just really don't think cleanliness is so difficult to keep on top of with the right management, and no one seems to care. The whole swimming area could just do with a really good deep clean, or refurb. Or potentially lots of fire. And a rebuild. read more
