I would give them a negative one star if I could. Unfortunately, I could not. We have relatives coming for a visit so we figure we would go get some better meat for them since they were big meat eaters from Colorado. We have Kroger and Walmart here and their products are so-so. We bought 2 packages of beef. You can see the prices on the package. Look at the amount of fat and bones. It is called highway robbery. The piece on top looks excellent and the one underneath, only fat and bone. My advice, do not support this business. I didn't want to go purchase in Walmart but ended up there instead. read more

We were camping at Degray lake state park. We had a night where we were tossing steaks on the grate over the fire. I wanted some local beef. I found Weldons on Yelp. Easy to find on the main road. I wanted filet. But damn $50 a lb!!!! Went with Ribeyes. Decent price for local beef cut right there. Was sooooo good! I got lucky and cooked it a perfect medium rare over the fire. The fat melted in to the steak! Staff was super nice and helpful. Store was cool with just enough local fixings, sides and rubs and such. Great place in Hot Springs for some good meat! read more

This is definitely the best place to go to for the best quality of meats. They will go out of their way to order something for you if they don't have it if you give them an advance notice. For the past 3 or 4 years, I had always meant to stop in to do some shopping, but never had the chance. For this trip to the Hot Spring area, I definitely wanted to stop in since we had our RV with us. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I had promised my sweetheart beef tenderloins for our Valentine night dinner. Walking in the first thing I noticed was how spotless the place was. They have a wide range of products from frozen to fresh but they really excel with their fresh meat selections. I had the butcher cut two 6 ounce tenderloins for me and they looked beautiful. I can't wait to grill them in a couple of days. I will definitely be back to visit them next time we're in town. Next time I want to buy some of the stuffed french bread. I've heard it's amazing. Great place with all kinds of meat, seafood, and poultry as well as specialty foods (jarred ove tapenade, fancy pancake mix) and other more mainstream foods (Lays and Fritos and sodas). We were visiting in the Springs and needed some ribs for the grill.......where else would you go other than a local butcher shop. This one was well worth the drive. The store was absolutely clean, the staff was helpful and friendly and the meat was very good. We didn't try any of the prepared sides, but they had a bunch and another customer in the store said they were very good. They raved about the bacon wrapped French bread. We have been customers at weldon's for years, but no more. The star is for their meats, which are generally good quality. But their customer service gets zero for good reason. To go in and ask for hanger steak only to be told it's the same as skirt and then that it doesn't exist by the butcher that apparently should be talking to dead meat rather than to people trying to spend money to support a local business was insulting, rude and degrading. So what we saw this cut on a cooking show, it doesn't exist? What was he cooking with then, roadkill? Customer service is just as important as good product. Be polite, keep me coming back. My husband and I went there today for the first time and was really impressed. The good smelling aroma when you walk in the door makes you hungry. The place is big and a lot of fresh meats. We got two racks of ribs smoked to bring home. There were out of this world. Tender and you could taste the wood that it takes to smoke. Going to make Weldon's our meat shop. I will say this is a very clean meat market from what I could see. They have a nice selection of meats, just don;t have any prime grade quality. Have been in several times, not really impressed with the flavor or tenderness of the meat when cooked. I generally grill to medium-rare to medium. Have tried the tenderloins and rib-eyes, even marinated the rib-eyes. Being from a bigger State, must have spoiled me with meat choices. Been ordering steaks now from a butcher out of Chicago, they are fantastic, along with the seafood selection. Getting prime grade is never an issue. But I guess if this is the meat selection your used to you find nothing wrong. read more

My wife and I stop in Weldon's each trip to HS. We love this place. In particular, the specialty items they have here. The spiral sliced honey baked turkey and ham are fantastic. I'm glad I don't live in HS because I'd definitely spend too much money here. For those who visit HS, I suggest stopping in here before you head back home. I think they are closed Sunday. Stock your cooler and enjoy the great samplings once you return home. read more

Never bought anything here but they deserve props for many reasons. They definitely know how to persevere through hard times or they have really good insurance. Lol. I remember it burned down in the 90s, like 94 or 95? And an old lady drove through the building in or around 2000...so props to the owners for having good insurance and caring about their customers! read more
