I told him what I like, and he gave us some amazing options. He opened one right there from the fridge for me to drink. It's novel for me that you can just drink on the streets. He even found a helles that I love, though I don't normally go for that style. Better yet , the prices are really reasonable . we walked away with seven bottles for under €20. We will be back today to get gifts and some extra bottles to sample throughout the day as we walk the streets of Munich.

Tara has just about everything you could look for in the wonderful world of whiskey, including a wall of Glenmorangie dating back to the early 1970s! So - I'm after a bottle of Slyrs, and the gentleman running the place is happy to guide me along the entire lineup, seemingly deeply knowledgeable in his craft and trying to guide me to what my taste profile would appreciate most. As I'm checking out, I see a wall of jams behind the counter. Wait, what? Whiskey is whiskey...what are sweets doing here? Oh...they're made WITH Slyrs whiskey? Sure - I'll take an apricot one. 4 days later, as I write this, I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy the entire display case out. Yeah...it's that good. Germany, and München in particular, may not be the first place you think of when you're of a mind to find good whiskey. That's not surprising, because their beer is among the best in the world, but also because German whiskey is good enough that they're not exporting, preferring to focus on quality and serving the burgeoning local market. We wanted to try wines from local areas and were not very familiar with the local wines. She helped us decided by asking us about what we liked. When we realized we didn't have a bottle opener with us she came to our rescue by uncorking the bottle and giving us a cork stopper. She even gave us a recommendation for a restaurant later that evening. Couldn't ask for more!
