The first time was to check out their beer selection. I didn't think it was too happening. They had a wheat beer, Kostritzer black lager, and a Pilsner. Could use some more variety. I had flown in the first day, so after I had a schnitzel, I came here to have one beer before heading back to my hotel.
The second time I came was two nights later; I was watching the German soccer team playing Nigeria in the Olympics in my hotel room and decided to hoof it down to watch it with other German people. Should be plenty of people watching it, right, in a sports bar with like 6 TVs?
Nope. There were maybe 6 other people in the bar, a few outside, but they didn't even have the game on. The bartender checked a book he had but said the game I was just watching could not be on. (The next day they played highlights of that game on the news as I stood in the airport)
When I walked into the bar on the second night, there was a guy there wearing a black White Sox hat. I asked him, in German, "Are you a White Sox fan?" and pointed to my head. He smiled and said "no." I said, "I am. I'm from Chicago."
