Besides new wine, we were also able to purchase traditional German foods to accompany the new wine. I highly recommend the Schmalzbrot... a hearty German bread with a spread of animal fat... sounds gross, but is delicious... imagine bacon drippings on bread. Also sampled the Flammkuchen, which is a pizza like creation, but without the red sauce.. it has cream cheese and caramelized onions, bacon and herbs on it. You have to try it. If you're ever in this area, just walk on in an sample wine and food. You won't regret it.

Fabulous family owned winery in the Pfalz. It's in a beautiful old village and the whole winery is…read morein a nice old building. It's been making wine since 1744 and has 21 hectares of organic certified estate. It's a traditional winery with small number of staff and makes mostly white and dessert wine. I was invited here for a wine tasting evening and the owner of the winery was on hand for the evening. They had put out their entire lineup of white wines and dessert wines. There was plenty of German Tapas on hand to go with the wine. I loved their Weißburgunder and Sekt. I also really liked the dessert wines here. They have some really top class Riesling and Weißburgunder very typical of this area. All in all a fabulous evening and one that I hope to repeat it soon :-)
