The previous owner -- a elderly gentleman from Sicily -- used to run the place as a specialty shop, and traces of that atmosphere remain. Today, you can sit down and enjoy dishes like risotto, cheese and prosciutto plates, and wine, making it a nice place to slow down while exploring the market. Located on the second floor of the market, the seating includes about five four-person counter tables overlooking the hall below, plus two large six-person communal tables inside. The elevated view of the busy market adds to the experience. Some elements from the original shop are still here -- you can sample several kinds of olives and balsamic vinegar, and they also sell seasonal items such as truffle honey. I do miss the very homey, personal hospitality of the previous owner, though; the service now feels a bit more standard and less intimate. Interestingly, I also noticed some visitors bringing bread or food purchased from other stalls in the market and simply enjoying wine here, which gives the place a relaxed, market-style atmosphere. Overall, it's a pleasant stop if you want to enjoy a glass of wine and a simple Italian-style plate while taking in the lively Kleinmarkthalle surroundings.
