Wedding Butlers, Kamloops, B.C. Canada
Now all reports are that these folk are really attentive and helpful. BUT, I'm the father of the bride, not the bride and my experience is that they ONLY cater to the bride and then only up to departure. Everyone else just has to look out for themselves!
My daughter wanted a 'Destination Wedding'. She's older so she decided to take on all the arrangements herself. Her mother and I were away , we are retired, so realizing that she needed to book a year ahead she was persuaded by 'The Wedding Butlers' to go ahead and pay deposits for a number of guests, including us, for Azul Sensatori in Cancun.
This is a 5 1/2 star resort and pretty much blows our budget for winter getaway so we wanted to extend our stay. I contacted Wedding Butlers and asked them to change the flights. They couldn't change the flights even though we contacted them in Aug for March 21 flights
Communication was really awful. You have to keep calling and emailing, they just didn't get back to us.
We would have done all our travel arrangements thru' them - They are actually a travel agent. But they NEVER got back to us after any of our calls/emails. Eventually in Oct we told them to cancel the flights and booked ourselves.
Other guests had similar problems with communication. Guests from the UK ended up using a different travel agent. They couldn't take a credit card from Relatives in US. They tried several and we never got an explanation of why. Eventually I had to have them put it on my credit card.
They had great difficulty taking my credit card because I was traveling and sent the CC info in 3 emails for security reasons. It shouldn't be too much to ask for them to piece together the info? Eventually got them paid when I got back home.
Asked a simple question - 'Is there parking at the hotel and is it free?' or 'does our reservation include airport shuttle?' Min cost is $40US pp each way. They simply never got back to me. Decided to rent a car anyway - just hoping it's not going to cost more to park than it does to rent.
I kept asking for more information about the resort. If you look at Azult Sensatori's website you will see that there isn't a lot of info there either. A picture of a table with 2 wine glasses really does not describe a room!! We never got any further information from them. Just the final invoice.
Gets closer to the event, Ryan wanted more money to actually attend the wedding - so I guess it's up to the Best Man or Father of the bride to actually be the 'BUTLER'!!!
We stayed at another resort the week before and when we left there I turned on the SATNAV and suddenly realized that I had no idea where I was going!! No address, no coordinates just 'Puerto Morales'! Stopped for lunch and a REALLY NICE owner went and found directions while we ate.
We get to Azul Sensatori and my daughter is starting to stress out. She is meeting with the hotel's wedding planners and everything is extra! She asked for a 'Champagne Fountain' rather than a cake. They don't even know what it is!! They don't have proper champagne glasses - just flutes, so she will have to buy the glasses!! ...another $300!
All in all the 'Wedding Butlers' took the money and ran! They did the absolute minimum and certainly were nothing like 'BUTLERS' - wonder if they have ever watched Downton Abbey?
Insult to injury; usually when I book a year ahead I get a bit of a discount - no, we paid top price for our reservation!
Give them a miss! read more
