The short of it is: Seemed promising initially, but the customer service experience was…read morefrustratingly poor. I was interested in getting Invisalign treatment and visited Dr. Harman's practice as they specialized in it. The initial consultation went well. The staff seemed helpful, and I met Dr. Heidi Harman. The assistant took detailed photos and X-rays, assuring me that they would email my information, pricing, and treatment plan by the next day to help me make an informed decision. However, despite repeated texts and calls over the next FOUR months politely requesting the promised information, I encountered puzzling excuses each time. Such as "Gmail is a tricky guy" Ultimately, they ghosted me completely and refused to release my X-rays to any other office. I'm deeply disappointed and confused. I had hoped to pursue treatment with Dr. Harman, but without the promised information, I couldn't proceed. It's disheartening to think that I could have been four months into the procedure, but instead, I faced runarounds from the staff, and my time was utterly wasted.

So I have been getting ortho work done for the past year with Dr. Harmon. The staff is friendly and…read moreaccommodating and has helped navigate me and my stubborn teeth through the first half of the process. The original estimate was about 12-16 months start to finish, however a snag in progress has drawn that timeframe out. Despite the setback to my ortho treatment (no fault of the doctor or her staff) they have continued to help me keep a positive outlook on the process. I expect to complete my ortho treatment during the upcoming year and so far am pleased with my choice of coming to H2O.

Friends at work recommended I check out UMKC's orthodontic services to save money in orthodontic…read morecare for my daughter. A typical orthodontist would run around $5,000 while UMKC would run a couple thousand dollars less. Their services are part of the schooling of their orthodontic students who are getting close to graduation and thus comes the savings. But, like the old addage goes, 'you get what you pay for'. Expect a long wait for approval and sign-up. Appointment cancellations are common and frequent. My daughter's appointments have been canceled many times, and a couple times, twice consecutively. She's going on three years now with her braces. I'm certain had we taken her to a local, reputable orthodontist, they would have completed the process within two years. And when they cancel, we often have to wait an entire month for the next appointment. So, her braces are not being tightened regularly as they should thus prolonging the time she has her braces on. It's frustrating. The work they do is good. The students are mentored by their professors. The clinic is nothing fancy and all the patients are in one common room being worked on, except for the consultations; those are held in a private room. We have to trave a ways to get here. So, will I utilize their services with my other three children? No. It's not worth the drive, the wait, the cancellations, etc. Also, parking is hit and miss. Often, the parking lot close to the building is full and you have to park in a lot that's a couple blocks away. This isn't fun if you are in a hurry or pressed for time. You also have to get a voucher so you don't have to pay parking fees from the guard station. I feel our daughter is more of a number than a valued customer so our next three children will be going to a private practice. You do get what you pay for in time and in service so it's a decision you will have to make. Additionally, UMKS's orthodontist services are per approval. They have to accept the candidate into the school. There is no 100% guarantee that you will get in. But I think most people can and do.

So far so good! I have 3 children who go here. 2 currently towards the end of their treatment and…read moreone just starting. The office staff has always been very helpful, kind, and respectful to me. Even though I am not the account holder of the older two girls (I am their step mom), they worked with me and the account holder so that I am able to handle the account as I would be able to handle my own child's. They have been clear with all their treatment plans, and my children HAVE been seen by the Dr himself, as I have met him and am pleased with how he treats my family. I can't say much in regards to the retainer experience or after care, but I will surely update as that happens.

Run. Please, please don't subject your child to the incompetence we fell victim to at this office…read more The price tag is huge coming in at just under $6,000, but the product or result is quite opposite. I am so mad at myself for not seeing through the lines on this place. We started out with Dr. Burelson as our orthodontist, over a year later there was sudden sale of the practice, we found out later that apparently the doctor would stay in his private office all while those of us please? under the influence in his office while his unlicensed techs were the ones treating our children! Parents were never allow d back into the treatment area, should have been my first clue. Given the location of the office being in a fairly wealthy actually very wealthy neighborhood I thought surely this professional knows what he's doing and can adequately treat my child's situation. WRONG. The quality of care is so poor after spending $5800 and 3 years for nothing, we are back to square one and she will need to be rebanded. Her care plan was estimated to be 18 months, but that turned into, 3 years later we are being told that the previous orthodontist who sold his practice screwed up so bad that it can't be fixed, or made to look or feel any better than a less than subpar smile due to the orthodontist's, both of them, failing to tell us that in order for her bite to come together properly she should have began by having 4 teeth removed!!!!!!! Yes, you read it right. To boot, we were assured they would reband her for free within one year given the very poor job the first ortho did, but conveniently, when we went back for a consult for reband, they made sure to twist the situation accusing me of disrespecting his staff so they did not have to reband her at all. Never EVER go here, many other competent individuals in our area that won't leave your teeth in worse shape then when started.
