Counsellors withheld a substantial amount of money from the sale of my house because the 20 year…read moreold discharge of mortgage had the wrong recorded page number and they were unable to get this corrected. Over the 20 years since the discharge I had other mortgages from banks that never questioned the discharge nor did a credit report show any outstanding debt. I had to hire an attorney and go to court in order to collect the funds due me. This was a costly process (attorney fees + lost interest) that took a year to resolve. Perhaps Counsellors had a legal right to withhold the funds but I consider it unethical. They could at a minimum have credited me the interest they earned over the year. I strongly recommend against using this title agency.
