First of all, the hype is REAL! I went to the Suc. Circuito location around 11:30 before lunch on a Saturday. I was told locals go here in my area for a quick lunch and it seemed to be the case. All the tables were full but there was no wait. Simple but sturdy wooden chairs and tables, simple decor but well shaded and comfortable. Service was fast, I mean sit down, order tacos, get a drink, get tacos, slather tacos in salsa, inhale tacos, smile in around 3 minutes! Then do it again. I don't normally eat grain, so this was a special, "had to eat it" treat, but the simplicity of the food and absolute mastery of this cook made the experience dream worthy. I started off with Agua Fresca de Jamaica, 2 Poc Chuc Tacos, and a Pollo Poblano. They had 3 salsas varying from Tomato no spicy to Tomatillo mas spicy. I went with a few drops of the Mediano spicy and a bit more of the Tomato no spicy. Honestly, the Poc Chi Tacos needed nothing, the Pork was flavorfully seasoned and well cooked. The pollo Poblano was tasty with thin slices of poblano sautéed with chicken. While tasty as well, I had just eaten my Poc Chuc taco first so it was a bit less favored, I was ready for Poc Chuc taco #2. Next I ordered two sauces tacos. They were out of the Chicarrones Rojo Taco, but I was also excited to try the Cochinita and Carne Adobada which the waiter told me was their take on Al Pastor with pineapple. I got pickled onions on the Cochinita and it was lightly sauced. No added salsa for this round. The flavor was amazing! My fave of the day was Poc Chuc, wonder what adding pickled onions to that would be like? Prolly my dream dish! I might just go back to order the Guisados to go and make my own taco bowl at home. (It looked like they offered this) That way I can cut the grain out and still enjoy the super yummmm! Cost was what I perceived as affordable about $Mx20 per taco, (upcharge for Tortas as an option, or premium tacos like Cochanita) not sure how this compares to other Taquerias because it will likely be my only tacos to try this visit, but I thought it was well priced and reasonable. I believe they only accept cash, but I assumed this and had cash, so I suggest you don't try going without cash. What a treat, and how grateful I am to have experienced such a beloved spot! read more

Wayané is a bit of an institution here. It is a favorite if many locals and for good reason, the food is fairly priced, it reflects local cuisine, and they have a broad selection that shows well. If you'd like to get a taste of Yucatecan cuisine in a corn tortilla, its worth a visit for sure. The service was good the one time we went but much of the seating is not really air conditioned so be ready for that if you go on a hot day. read more

If you want tacos the locals are eating, if you want an accurate authentic taco then this is the place. There are a few locations but I've been to two and both were very consistent. Yes yes yes! You can tell that this is where the locals go. Personally I ordered the huevos with Chaya, two other ones that don't stand out to me. They were good but I guess not as good as the Chaya. My kids and hubby ordered pork, they loved them! They ordered cochinita, puuc, trapo viejo, castacan, and chilibul. Everyone was satisfied. This is a small local chain serving Mayan food. The prices are very reasonable and the food is consistently delicious. They have pork belly, which is a very popular item - but I really like the empanada with Queso inside and also the tacos de huevo con longaniza. With cheese and beans. I mean they are to die for. Definitely a bang for your buck! First time here with friends and we were greeted with smiles! Between the 5 of us, we sampled just about everything. My favorite were the the chicken tortas with cheese, onions, and the hot sauce. The cooks were so nice that they allowed us to record them cook the food and wanted us to take pictures with them. These are the best tacos I've had in Merida. I've been here a few years and have probably ate in at least 60 different taquerias. I lived in Itzimna just 4 blocks from Wayan'e and sadly never knew about the place. They're open early and close at 2:30pm I think, so it's great for breakfast or lunch. I wish I'd found this place long ago. Service is friendly and super fast. It's also one of the few taco places here who have whole roasted habaneros available as condiments. Go. Enjoy. I'm not quite sure if this was the exact location we visited in Merida (there are at least 3 in the city) as we walked in the direction of one, got very lost, and then hopped in a taxi to finally reach the restaurant. A lot of effort, but yes, totally worth it, for the best tacos in Merida! No English spoken here whatsoever, but if you can understand/speak even a bit of Spanish, you will be fine. The breakfast tacos (all with scrambled eggs) are amazing and there are a huge variety of both veggie and meat offerings. Try one with castacan, which is deep fried pork belly. They also have tortas, which we didn't try, and a variety of agua frescas and other drinks. Everything is so cheap that it's practically free. Go early as they apparently often sell out of many items by 1pm. read more

Not concerned we went to the ordering area and person in register was friendly and helpful. We asked him to give us 5 tacos that he recommended. The place was packed but service was extremely quick. I tried a castacan torta which is a kind of pork, it was delicious. I also tried the chicken called pollo Hulk, which comes in a green sauce, it was amazing! A must try, just beware this is not a formal restaurant, there are only like 5 tables. read more
