Beautiful weekend in southeastern Pennsylvania, and perfect for a drive in the country over hill…read moreand dale. We first headed west on the PA Turnpike, and then north on Rt. 476, the Northeast Extension to Route 63. Then through Harleysville, Green Springs and finally, Pennsburg; to our destination, The Valley Cafe. About 60 miles door to door. The rolling hills, farms and forests were peacefully resting in the comfortable heat of the day. Plenty of 19th Century farmsteads and even older stone houses that held the secret lives of so many generations. It was idyllic; almost a fully sensate daydream. The Cafe was nearly full when we arrive around 12:30. We were led to a table in the larger dining room and handed menus and Specials sheet. We ordered coffee with milk to start. Surprisingly, that translated into two separate requests here - coffee and milk. We only wanted milk to lighten the coffee, and explained that to the server who seemed confused that we hadn't asked for "creamers." Straightened out, he took one glass back and left us with the other to share. Breakfast consisted of Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs for me, and Southwest Scramble for the son. Mine was very good - with real beef, breadcrumbs the size of my hand nicely pan fried, and two over easy eggs on top, slowly oozing their golden yolks into the crisp breaded meat beneath. The home fries and rye toast were good accoutrements, but lost in the richness of the main components. My son was disappointed in his plate. Although there was plenty of egg, cheese, onion, green pepper and potato scrambled for consumption, there was really nothing "southwestern" about it. No jalapeños. No red chilies. No chili powder. Just a tiny plastic cup of salsa; inadequate to provide spiciness. He ate what he could, but left an unusual amount untouched. I gave him a chunk of my CFS to compensate which he liked. Service was fine for a busy Sunday. The place is extremely popular with lots of turnover and families/groups of friends socializing over breakfast, brunch and lunch. No doubt, well deserved. Our score with one success and one fail was what it was. We loved the trip, but would not make The Valley Cafe our destination again. 3.5 STARS

The service is good and nice, very calming in the room. And when I ordered Chicken fried steak and…read moreeggs, it was good. When I start to dig into the fried steak it was good but afterward about 30 mins when we left, I felt a little sick and threw up 10 mins after of done eating. Would not recommend eating the chicken fried steak and I do not know if I got sick because of it or not? Would not recommend getting the steak. Overall the place is nice to get a quick breakfast.

After accidentally putting an actual beef burger patty on my wife's impossible whopper, I called…read morethe store to let them know of the issue. The manager immediately told me that she "knew" that the order couldn't be wrong because she "watched the cook put it in the microwave." I tried to explain to her that it wasn't a matter of how the burger was cooked but what it was actually made out of (because my wife is a vegetarian), and the manager continued to argue with me while also saying that if I drove back to the store with the receipt, she would replace it. When I arrived, she tried to take the burger from me; and I told her that I wanted to keep it to show her the difference in consistency, shape and odor between a beef burger and an impossible patty; and she acted like she was personally offended. She then proceeded to tell me I was "yelling" at her-- I wasn't-- and then admitted that, although I wasn't yelling I was "being rude." To this point, she had tried to say my problem wasn't really a problem and had questioned me all along the way, failing to realize that the reason that people order impossible whoppers is because they don't eat meat. At this point, she said there's was nothing to say. Her teammates, because she had made such a spectacle of herself, felt the need to defend her when, quite frankly, she was argumentative and tried to gaslight me throughout my entire experience. I don't know her name. She took the receipt when I came back. She was the manager on duty at the 15482 Kutztown Rd location; and I never got an apology from her for 1) my wife eating meat or 2) her questioning my judgment about what mean looks, tastes and feels like. [I have had both patties and am familiar with the differences, as my wife often lets me finish off her sandwich.] More than anything, I wish my wife actually got an apology from the manager.
