Woodmont Corner Garage

Woodmont Corner Garage

This is a well-maintained garage with access off Woodmont and old Georgetown Road. I was worried…read morethat it would be crowded because it's very close to the metro, but on the Wednesday night I went there was an abundance of parking spots available. The current cost is $1.50/hr and it's Pay by Plate. The one thing I don't like about all Montgomery County lots is that it's pay by the hour. There are no half hour increments. I miss the days of coin meters! The garage is clean, and well lit. I feel safe coming and going on my own as long as I can park near a door or elevator. This was the closest garage to a Yelp event I attended, and when I return to the restaurant, I will definitely park in the garage again since it's cheaper than street parking rates.

I love this parking garage…read more Large, easy to get in and out of. And I'm also a huge fan of parking garages that have ticket entry. When have you ever gotten a parking ticket in a ticket entry garage? The answer is never. I like to leave my car somewhere and not worry about how much time I'm spending at a business. Parking garages that have meters in them... thats no guarantee. The prices are reasonable in this garage and it's steps away from Woodmont Triangle and could be a nice brisk walk into the heart of Bethesda Row. There is usually someone in the office there- which is not he size of a coffin. I feel so bad for those workers in a garage that have that small booth that is just big enough to fit a human being... without their knees usually. I've been in this garage a few times, and have always found a spot on the first floor. It is clearly underutilized, at least the times I'm going. Great garage, no problems with this garage.

As I entered the first floor and found there were no spaces, on this floor, I had do execute a three point turn with cars in each direction. It was a real hassle. Thirdly, they don't have pay machines on each floor. So, they tell you to note your license plate, but with no pay machine on the blue G floor, you have no way to figure out how to pay. And, no one to ask for help. Then, all of the parking levels are marked G. So, if you didn't pay attention to the one strip of color on the wall, you wouldn't know which floor to return to. So, I will be looking for a different parking garage on Woodmont Avenue. Good luck, and enter at your own risk...

I made a note of my parking space number and what level garage I was on, but got lost returning to my space and leaving the garage. I must have spent 10-15 minutes for both. It would be helpful if there were more exit signs throughout the garage. It's also considerably larger than other garages I've been to which made it more challenging to navigate.

The garage was pretty full when I arrived, but…read moreI got lucky as someone was just pulling out of a spot on the 1st floor when I entered, so I snagged that spot. The garage was fairly easy to navigate as long as you orient yourself when you exit, since there are quite a few similar-looking garages in the vicinity. This garage was very close to a PAUL café, as well as numerous shops and restaurants. I was parked for around 2 hours and was charged $2, a very reasonable price, and more reasonable than some other nearby garages according to my friend who spends a lot of time in Bethesda. The pay on foot machine was easy to use; I paid in cash. There were exits to both Bethesda Ave in one lane and Woodmont Ave in another lane. I used Google maps to find the garage but at first it led me to what turned out to be a private parking garage, and I had to drive up like 1 minute to reach the correct garage. It wasn't a big deal, just a heads-up if anyone is using their GPS to find it.

This garage used to be the cats meow!…read more Beautiful wide open spaces, meters that worked, and were outfitted with Mobile Now App Payment. Now it's a shadow of its former self! First of all, the police station flayed it and split the trimmings. You can't enter through Rugby anymore because that's solely a police entrance. Then! They blocked off the stairwell at the top of the garage so you can't even WALK down that side of the garage. Then, more recently they took away all of the meters and installed those infuriating machines where you enter in the parking space and pay for parking that way. Supposedly you can still use the parkmobile or mobilenow apps, but when I tried to scan the QR code on both, it came up snake eyes on both apps #NothingHappened. I mean... if you're looking for parking in Bethesda, I guess take it. But for a city that is constantly stigmatized for it's poor parking options that are both pricey and sometimes inconvenient; I just can't understand why they would take all of the good things out of this garage and leave it like this. I can just see it now - in a year they're gonna make the entire bottom level for like hybrid/electric cars or something ridiculous. Like... think of ways it could get worse, and it probably will for this garage. I know: Tell us how you truly feel. But really. I hate those machines. They take forever, there's always a line, and you can't adjust the time by the half an hour. You get to choose 1 hour or 2 hours. So frustrating.

In the world of Scooby Doo, serendipity might be best exemplified in the season one episode titled…read more"A Night of Fright is No Delight." In that episode, Scooby Doo and his human companions are asked to spend the night in the late Colonel Beauregard Sanders' haunted castle in order for Scooby to receive his inheritance. Upon arrival, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby are introduced to Cosgood Creeps, Sanders' attorney, who tells them that his partner, Cuthbert Crawls, unfortunately could not make it. Needless to say, one doesn't require Velma Dinkley's intelligence and intuition to know that men named Creeps and Crawls are transparently villainous. Similarly and truthfully, the Scooby Gang would have just as easy a time choosing a parking garage if they were anywhere near the intersection of Woodmont Avenue and Cordell Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland. They could park for two hours for two dollars cash or credit, a price that is hard to beat, and they could easily ask Shaggy and Scooby to extend the time for another two hours by simply following the instructions on the machine and using the code printed out on their receipt. A reward of Scooby Snacks would surely await them!

I didn't know it at the time, but this location costs $1.25 per hour (I had parked elsewhere on a different day after and the other was $1 per hour) - could it be because this garage is busy? On the 3rd floor, which is the highest level you can go, when you get to the end of the lot, it just abruptly ends around a corner and so one has to maneuver their vehicle in a tight area of parked cars in order to head back in the opposite direction. My best bet is to park in a different garage that is not so tight and is 2 blocks further - walking is good for you anyways. Good: Parking is free between 10pm to 7am (Monday to Friday) and all day Saturday and Sunday. There are 2 entrances - one on Cordell Ave and the other on St. Elmo Ave. Not so good: This garage is tight and tiny than others that I have parked in the area. Cost is $1.25 per hour (some others in the area are $1). The abrupt ending of the garage on the top floor (I would never ever park in that area after seeing several cars trying to maneuver their vehicle in that tiny area). Extra: Parking in downtown Bethesda that has meters: There is an app you can download to pay by your cell, but I haven't figured that one out yet. I'll need to read some reviews on it before trying it.

There are a lot of people of all ages and demographics, which I personally really liked. The Wi-Fi speed was actually really good which kind of surprised me! I personally wish there was a little café on the inside of the library but because it's so small and there are other places to eat in proximity, I'll let it slide. The parking is cheap In my opinion. Someone said a dollar an hour is expensive but I thought it was fine. Of course I'd rather not have to pay for parking in the library, but given that this is in downtown Bethesda, they probably want to prevent people from parking here to do other things (?). I didn't go to the bathroom so I can't speak on the cleanliness of them. There was someone who had drank alcohol in the library and had an open bottle and the librarians were quick to remove him from the premises and they did so with grace. I don't think that should impact the library rating itself because the library did what It should've done. Minus one star for having to pay for parking, no food on the inside, slightly limited tables, and not allowing eating on the inside.
