There's a good mix of kids' activities, food looked better than standard fest fare, and there was craft beer and wine, although I hate having to buy tickets for drinks, and the beer workers were pretty unorganized, and also ran out of a few kinds of beer fairly early. Then I saw that we could just have bought good beers from Cafés Hollander and Bavaria for cash! (Not from the Festival, itself). The headlining music acts were good, although the two main stages seemed miles apart, especially in 50-degree weather. We probably parked too far away down the Menomonee Parkway, it's a pretty popular festival, and nice "for the area", would come back for a music act I really liked.

Pros- One of the most diverse festivals in Milwaukee, good food vendors, good music lineups, good artisan vendors Cons- Overly Crowded, sprawling, a drunk fest with music (as an aside?), a surcharge on credit cards at Festival drink tents, people getting overserved Dryhootch Veterans house had a great R&B Veterans band, good food- Nomad staff were working hard and had a great party out back, as well. The main music stages have good local acts in a variety of styles, such as Negative Positive, Browns Crew, GuhGuhGoldDuhDuh (haha) throughout the day. I got some great tacos, and Elotes Mexican Street Corn. There is a lot of good food vendors here. Brady Street Festival is really great for the bars on Brady- as they set up shop w/slushies, liquor drinks, Mai Tais and the like, and the bars are bustling. But aye, there's the rub- our crowd of music dancers and watchers of De La Buena got physically plowed by people who by 7pm were already...plowed! Of course Brady Street Festival is 100% Brady Street, glad to have you back.

I had great people saying hi to me, got along fine with some people there. Got a free shirt but just walking by a shirt stand. Thank you, at least they was nice. Maybe if they have the Festival again for next year I'll be there ready for anything and eat the food, have more fun. Stay a bit longer. It was pricey but it got the job done so worth it! I noticed that they had a happy Thursday stand so you didn't have to wait at the bar. They had different sizes and even a pouch so thats nice. My friend and I got some walking tacos to top off out night. The well seasoned meat, chips, and toppings in a bag were everything we needed. While walking tacos saved us, I'm sure you can find something for you if you're not craving that.

Parking can be a challenge so get here early or plan for a little walk. The WestTown River Rhythms website does provide a couple nearby parking lot options with discounts for use during the event so check that out when you're looking at the music lineup. This is another great option to enjoy music outdoors during the summer months in Milwaukee!

For many years, the Holiday Craft Fair from was held at the State Fairgrounds on 84th St. the…read moreweekend of Thanksgiving from Friday through Sunday. For the past 2 years, the show has moved to the Milwaukee County Sports Complex in Franklin. It is probably close in size to the previous venue, but with free parking and easier getting in and out compared to the fairgrounds. Year to year, the shows can vary - some craftier than others. While it is targeted for the middle-aged types who like to decorate their homes with handmade crafty items, it is pretty diverse. Among the vendors you'll find gutter guards, insurance, basement waterproofing and windows. Then there are vendors offering non-crafty items like candy, nuts, even a homemade ice cream stand. For the record, 2013 was not one of the craftier years. We managed to cover the floor pretty quickly. Some of the vendors we always love to see, like "The Nut Man" who sells bulk nuts and chocolates, were there. Other vendors we liked sold hand-crafted ornaments, pillowcases or decorative magnets made from vintage-looking bottle caps. It's interesting to see, even if you're not in the market for something decorative for the home. Still, we always leave with something, a gift, even if it is small. For us Thanksgiving weekend is craft fair weekend and this is usually one of the better ones out there.

Makes you wonder why you had not done this before. Everybody brings a cooler or a basket with food; and the event organizers kindly ask that you purchase your beverages with the vendors. That's how the can make a profit and support the event (makes sense). Drinks are about $6 per cup. This is my first "Jazz in the Park" and I'll definitely come better prepared next time. Besides my chair, I'll bring a book (for the wait) and snacks! There weren't really many options this time. Happy "Jazz in the Park"! Fun fact: "Jazz in the Park" has its own mascot! I'm pretty disgusted that this year they won't fill the beers to the top because apparently some lower line is "12 oz". I am still paying the price of a 6-pack for one beer, do we really need to get that technical??? While the new BMO stage is very nice, I don't understand the complications and severe lack of communication on how to get "tickets" at a FREE stage! The best job at summerfest, and a great spot to stop for awhile, is at the mechanic bull. Who wouldn't love to throw dumb kids and over-sized wanna be cowboys off of a fake bull all day?! Don't know what happened early in the fest, but that thing was tore up and missing its horns, lol. I Iove summerfest buy don't agree with some of the changes they are making. We spend an obscene amount of money and deal with a lot of crap from other fest-goers, why intensify it for us? Ever heard of "Customers First" summerfest slumlords? Okay, maybe that was too much. I'm just really pissed about the extra ounce or two of beer and serving me unfilled cups. If that ain't a reason to sneak in booze.... Parents! Take yo kids home after dark when all the drunkies surface!!! Fav food: Venice Club eggplant strips! Ask for lemon and an extra cup of marinara if you're "saucy" like me ;) Personally, I can only handle the crowd and drunks by doing as the Romans do. So, if you get irritated with those like people mentioned, please plan your trip via DD, taxi (leave early), bus, etc. It's a BUSY BUSY place and an interesting to people watch!

Among them were Third Eye Blind, Sheika E, Buddy Guy, local performers that are making a name for themselves, and other up and coming artists. There are so many acts going on on different stages all at once, its impossible to catch everything. There are many options for food. Various ethnic cuisine, fresh fruits, etc. One of the food items I got was a bacon bottom pizza...no bread, just bacon, weaved at the bottom of the pizza. It was good. Great music, good food, drinks, and lots of people.
