There is somewhat of a turnover rate with the teachers, my granddaughter is on her third teacher this year in Kindergarten. There has also been a problem with bullies for years, even in elementary. It would be nice for the staff to keep a closer eye on the children, especially during these times changing. All of my children have come home complaining of kids leaving them out during play times, teachers not answering their questions or being cussed out, hair pulled, punched, etc. at school and on the bus. I feel so bad and when you go to the school to talk to them, they say they'll keep an eye out but it might as well as fell on deaf ears, the problem still exists. We always tell the kids if you have a problem just ask or tell a teacher and when they get home they say that the teacher wouldn't help them. We do like the gym coach Mrs. Ross that has been here for many years. The counselor and office staff has always been friendly and helpful...just wish we had better, more experienced teachers, seems like they get younger every year.

I can't explain how much I love this school. My eldest had dealt with bullying at all his previous schools, because he's nerdy and awkward and sensitive. He'd been the "problem kid" to the teachers because he got bored easily from lack of a challenging curriculum and disrupted the class. He was angry and sullen most of the time. Junior high was the worst because he finally realized what I'd always known, that he was gay, and with the support of his family and few friends, he came out. He didn't expect the backlash. My son hated school and had the beginnings of social anxiety when he came to Harding. Being interested in art, he hoped it would be a better fit. The term Fine Arts Academy is somewhat of a misnomer in my opinion. Yes, they teach many arts classes, but it is not a school only for teaching art. It is a school that uses art to teach, all subjects. They encourage creativity in all things from approach to execution of any subject or project. They have a rigorous curriculum, but give kids all the tools they need to achieve their best, including access to tutoring, teachers that give one on one instruction if needed, and online resources. The teachers are some of the best I've seen. They really care about their students. The class sizes are smaller, so teachers have that ability to give individual attention. They have unique classes and clubs as well, such as photography, graphic design, martial arts, modern dance, Spectrum LGBTQ+ support, and the BSA (Black Student Association). There is so much diversity and support for that diversity, that bullying is almost NIL and if it happens, it is shut down immediately by staff and students alike. Kids feel free to be themselves here. This place has more school wide activities than others I've seen as well. Random parties, dances, festivals, group trips, and other activities. They really encourage students to step outside clique's and typical social separation to build a community and sense of family. My son has blossomed since coming here, making straight A's since sophomore year, joining NHS last year, and has activities and friends he loves. Being a PTO mom, I hear similar stories from other parents. I bring my youngest here with similar problems in his past, but an open heart to his future here. I cant wait to see what he can achieve here. I definitely recommend this school.

I know it's odd to review an elementary but wanted to point out a few of the things the teachers…read moreand staff do for the community. Besides educating children for very little money, they host a lot of events that empower students such as math and science night (which btw, was super fun and cool). The school had a run down track and did a fun run to raise funds for a new track, soccer fields, and greenery. Not only does this benefit the school, but taxpayers, even those without children, have access to these things. Schools struggle and yet they still manage to give back. Well done!!

Such a nice and welcoming place…read more My family and I attended a funeral service here. I am so appreciative of how the took care of our family. They held a beautiful service and we're very accommodating through it all. They made my whole family feel welcomed. And there was a lot of us.... They church was pretty and had a good sized parish hall for fellowship.

This school system is okay at best. I will say that the district has made a lot of terrible…read moredescisions when it comes to hiring teachers. The only worthwhile elementary schools are Roosevelt and Cleveland while all the middle schools have terrible violence, bullying, alcohol, and drug problems. The high schools have better education then the others though.
