We came here for the first time on family night. It was such a good idea and event to get families swimming and enjoying pool time. Kids of all ages were swimming. Older kids easily made friends and played with the provided floaties and pool toys. The staff was attentive, life guards were on stand by the entire event. My daughter is really enjoying her swimming classes here! Instructor Aurora is awesome--she is patient, encouraging, and great with kids. I've seen a noticeable improvement in my daughter's confidence and comfort in the water, and she looks forward to every class. The only concern I have is regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom area. It would be great if this could be maintained more regularly to match the quality of the classes. She makes me feel very safe and comfortable in the water, which was my biggest concern starting out. She's very patient and observant, and she's really good at identifying where I'm struggling and helping me improve step by step. The instructors are good but the business and customer service is what bothers me. Especially the whole scam they play with makeup lessons and freezes. Makeup lessons are advertised for customer cancellations, but when instructors cancel, they issue the same credit--which is far more restrictive. You can only book within 7 days, can't use them for recurring books, and must keep a paid future lesson just to use it. So you have a regular lesson - waterworks cancels any time (no 2 hour restriction like customers) - you are offered a downgraded lesson. This is not an equivalent replacement--it's a downgrade in value. Seems such a dumb policy. If the business cancels, shouldn't they offer the customer exactly what they had before? Why downgrade? And then they'll sell a freeze for $10 to convert your makeup to a regular lesson! Make sure you understand this before enrolling. read more

We've had a wonderful experience at Waterworks Aquatics on Bascom. If you're looking for a great instructor, I highly recommend Samantha. She is fantastic at connecting with the kids and always takes the time to debrief with us after each session. Having that direct message and feedback makes the next lesson so much more effective because we're all aligned on what to focus on next. We specifically love the 1:1 and 1:2 (semi-private) formats. The 20-minute sessions are the perfect length--they allow the kids to give it their absolute all while they have the energy. We've been with Waterworks since 2019, and all three of my kids have had the joy of swimming with Francisco. My two older children are currently in Stroke Clinic, and my youngest son has been taking lessons with Francisco for over a year now. I honestly can't recommend him enough. He truly loves kids and has a natural gift for making them feel comfortable in the water. He has such a fun and creative way of explaining things that keeps my kids fully engaged. He's incredibly sweet and patient, and my youngest trusted him very quickly--even when he first started swimming at just one year old! Now, my son is completely at ease in the water, which means so much to me. Water safety is absolutely essential in our family because we spend a lot of time at the pool and beach. Fantastic Birthday Experience at Waterworks We had our first ever (pool) birthday party for my 7 year old last night. Honestly, I went in a little nervous on how it would turn out to be and came out extremely happy as a host. The kids had a blast and the parents were happy that they had a different birthday experience. My child has been a student at the location since beginning of this year and it was on her insistence that we chose it as our venue. I had other ideas but she was adamant. :-) Venue + People: Nancy (the event coordinator) was very responsive and coordinated every detail for our reservation, until a day before so that we were all covered. Kathy (host) at Waterworks Bascom location was so cheerful and gracious throughout the 2.5 hours - constantly checking with me to make sure all is going well. Ms. Shay, Ms. Leilany (who are amazing instructors themselves) along with Nolan were there to make sure kids are safe and happy. ‍ Pool & Games: The kids had an absolute blast in the pool! The water activities and games kept them entertained -- perfectly organized and age-appropriate. The pool is heated so it was hard to get them out when it was time (a happy outcome to a host! ;-)) Food: We got our own food - for both kids and adults. We had help setting them up and also to pass the cake. From setup to cleanup, the Waterworks team made it all effortless. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Overall, it was a fantastic, stress-free birthday celebration. Highly recommended to anyone who are looking for a fun birthday celebration for their kiddos. read more

Updating my review! Our son has been seeing Nallely and Meleah since he was an infant. They are very patient and skillful working with him. We now have our baby daughter taking Nallely's parent and me classes. She was very comfortable in the water and took to Nallely happily. Nallely is an amazing swim instructor and highly recommend her and Meleah. This isn't the best private training you can get. Neither is the price competitive for you to settle. I suggest look elsewhere. The instructors at waterworks are definitely not as experienced. You might end up with a new instructor every lesson if you don't make sure to book in advance. Also - they rush you. If you're fearful of swimming this isn't the place to start. Their approach is "just do it". They don't have a standard approach per instructor either. For example my first instructor attempted back float and said it was essential before we learn anything else and the second lesson was a different instructor and she could care less about the back float. The people are nice. The showers are cold. If you're new to swimming you need people with patience to teach you. Familiarize you with water. And there's just not enough time in a 20 min rushed class to do it. read more

We took our daughter here who was about 1.5 years old at the time. We moved from Southern California and she had been doing swim school (Aqua Tots) since she was 4 months old. We were looking for a new swim school and heard mixed reviews on this one so we decided to give it a try - and I wish we didn't. The class started late, it was supposed to start at 10am but we didn't start until closer to 10:10-10:15. She would give very fast instruction on what to do, and then seemed like she was trying to teach another class at the same time and then would leave and then would come back and do the same thing. She then gave us little flotation devices that literally had mold on them and I didn't feel comfortable giving it to my daughter because of it. The lesson lasted about 15 mins with the instructor going back and fourth between our class and another. We paid $38 for a 15 minute swim class. Like previously stated, she had been doing swim for a while so we had expectations of what a good swim class should be, and this wasn't it. It just seemed dirty, poorly kept, and unorganized. Great place to learn how to swim for young kids. VERY inclusive and positive. The only frustrating aspect is that classes are back to back, which gives the instructors zero time to go from one pool/lesson to another. Protocol dictates that they update the parent on their child's progress, but that eats into the next lesson. Some instructors go into so much detail on what the child needs to work on that I'm tempted to answer with "oh ok! Let me bring my kid back to my private pool to practice keeping their toes in the water" Im sure most of us are out here because we don't have a pool at home. Just tell me my kid is learning to float on their back and roll to stomach and move on to the next lesson. I don't need a 3 minute entry on every skill they worked on. There's been multiple lessons that have been cut short by 5 minutes because of this. And the lessons are only 20 minutes. read more

We have been with Waterworks for 3 years now and highly recommend them for your family's swimming needs. The facility, location, clean pools, friendly front desk staff, great managers and beyond all their best in class swim instructors will enable your kids to become great swimmers. My son has been with coach Tyson who is highly skilled and knowledgeable in training kids, very patient, calm and friendly. Tyson makes the lessons super fun and engaging while making rapid progress and focus on refining all the strokes. We started swimming as recreational and to learn a life skill but very quickly progressed into learning all strokes including diving thanks to Tyson. My son is now so confident in the water and it's impressive to see how it has helped build his confidence beyond the lessons. As a grown up, I always wanted to learn swimming and was pretty hesitant similar to most working parents to invest the time and effort. In about 7 months, Tyson helped me learn freestyle, backstroke and some diving with minimal practice which is impressive. Our experience with all our coaches including Akshat, Murilo, Meleah, Israel with makeup lessons and my son's first swim coach Alec has been fantastic. They all continue to maintain a great rapport with our family so transitioning into stroke clinics or swim team in the future if we decide, will be smooth. One other quick highlight is the family swim nights that are pretty fun and we have brought our son's friends families along and these have been the most exciting playdates for all. I showed up for my 4 children swim lessons just to find out that the chlorine level was too high.The chorine level was between 9-10.how come nobody notified about the cancelation. My kid has been going to Waterworks since 2024. We really like the facility, programs and the instructors. It has 2 big indoor heated pools, which means the classes can continue Year round. Their Kiddie pool is a great to have feature, for little ones to enjoy and get comfortable with water, also helps with the warm up before the scheduled class. Waterworks changes the locations of the lessons and completely misguides the customers with time it may need to go to the new location. This is their way to misguide the customers so that they do not cancel the lessons. When you call the Waterworks they say other than "apologies" they would not do anything to make up for the misinformation that they gave to the customers. My 5 year old has been going here for summer swim classes. There are other swimming facilities but the schedule is more flexible and more times available at water works. The instructors are good but you will have to trial and error which fits your needs since they all have different styles of teaching. The swimming facilities, bathroom and showers are clean and spacious. However, the San Jose waterworks is located in City Sports building and the management always harasses children attending the swimming class. City Sports banned children sitting in the jacuzzi (most likely a City Sports gym member complained) and they banned children using the showers (nude adults cant walk freely around). The scheduling is done online and GOD HELP YOU trying to navigate, schedule, cancel, pay through the waterworks website......i still dont know what FREEZE CANCELATION means..... read more

My daughter and I started with the parent and me and now she's doing it all by herself. The staff is so friendly and the coaches are nice. My kid's coach- Miledi is amazing. She's patient, teaches very well and makes classes really fun with interactive games. One of the reasons my kid enjoys her swim classes is because of the coach.
