I only dine in this restaurant when I'm staying in the hotel. We stayed here for New Years eve. They had a special menu I felt like the braised short ribs were a little on the dry side. It wasn't unpleasant but it definitely needed more gravy. Breakfast is always good here. They usually have a nice buffet. So I recommend Breakfast. They also make a pretty good expresso Martini. Oh we came back later to the bar and got the chicken club sandwich. That was pretty good. So it all depends on what you order. read more

We'd been driving for hours and arrived at the Renaissance where we were booked, where Watertable is located. It was after 8:00, so we tried to eat dinner in the hotel. We went up, got seated, but the music was deafening. It clearly wasn't for anyone else eating there, an elderly couple, a family with little kids. Turns out there was a party booked. However, there wasn't a door between the party facility and the restaurant. This music was loud at the elevators. We just got up and left. I have no idea how the food or service was. This place seems to get slammed for service. We walked in 20mins before closing & they were very happy to seat & serve us. The service was excellent from the waiter. We had zero complaints in this department. The food was good but a little pricey. Crab cakes are $46 and small but really tasty w/ lots of crab meat. Burger was tasty with fresh fixings. Mediterranean salad looked good. They have a nice drink list with some local craft beers. It was a good experience for us. I'm really glad I checked this restaurant out on the 5th floor of the Renaissance Hotel. Malik was my server and he was very nice. I got there right when it opened at 6 PM. And I got the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer and it rested on a bed of kale salad I think. It was delicious but I have had better bang bang shrimp. Then dinner I got a chicken main course meal and it was very, very good. It was enough to share for two people so I took the leftovers back to the room. For dessert I got the cheesecake with strawberries, and it was good, buy average. I would think anybody that would stop in and have dinner here would be happy with that choice. They have a really big bar to sit at if you have a group of people as well. Everybody here was very kind and nice and you could tell they really enjoyed their job. I want to compliment the hostess at the front desk of the restaurant. She is always so pleasant and provides outstanding customer service. We sat at the bar until the restaurant opened at 5 pm, the bartender was very nice and made good drinks. We dined on a Saturday. Overall, the service and food was good. However, my hubby's steak was not cooked as he requested. We asked to speak to the manager and a supervisor, I believe her name is Monique came to our table. Monique was excellent and corrected the issue. She went above and beyond to make sure we received the best service. Thank you to her. She was on point in addressing our concerns. This restaurant is in the Renaissance Hotel. We ate dinner there one night for a convenient option on a busy day but regretted it. The bang bang shrimp appetizer was good but the crab cakes (actually balls) and chicken sandwich were both below par. The chicken was hard and dry. The crab balls looked like they were fried too long in old oil and they were gloppy with mayonnaise sauce and very little crab on the inside. Amazingly the succotash that came with the crab balls was delicious. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We also had the breakfast buffet on the weekend and that was fine. Good pancakes and a decent omelette bar. The interior was full of natural light. Pass on dinner and get cocktails and appetizers at the bar. Get breakfast for an easy decent option. read more

At a convention in Renaissance Harborplace hotel. Watertable is the ONLY restaurant in the hotel. Their ONLY dinner offering is their disgusting buffet on Saturday nights. No a la carte available. All I wanted was a salad. I bypassed the cold dry teriyaki drumsticks and wings, the cold seadoned rice, the dry hockey puck falafel (cold as well) and the dyy looking 'street' corn. I did take a slice of grilled chicken, which was almost at room temperature. You'd think a nice restaurant offering a $30 buffet would have a selection of salad ingredients even if food optios were lacking. You would be wrong. The choices were salad greens or Caeser salad greens. Toppings were limited to dry Parmesan shredded cheese and burnt croutons. The Caesar dressing was decent, but probably bottled. Hubby said teriyaki chicken was cold, barely seasoned but covered in cold bacon while the rice was badly seasoned, cold and dry. Vegetable soup tasted like the only seasoning was black pepper. Beer from a can sold by a local brewery, Guilford Hall, was excellent! Cucumber-Rita was fun, but I was looking for cucumbers in the salad! have eating breakfast at this restaurant 2 years in a row since i was there on business. do NOT order eggs over easy, i had to send my breakfast back and get something different as the egg whites were barely cooked and cutting into them i found all the completely uncooked egg white material. service is slow even to get coffee 90% of the time and the food takes forever to come to you, even when they are fixing an error. i have also eaten dinner there a few times, that's even slower to come out of the kitchen than breakfast and just getting a glass of wine can be slow! getting your check is slow as well. if you need to eat breakfast at the hotel plan at least 45 min. they had a very limited menu sunday and monday nights "due to low staff level because of president's day". when they know ahead of time how many rooms are booked for that weekend, they should be planning staff levels accordingly. read more

I came back for their Easter Brunch ($40). I thought the breakfast was superior to the lunch. For breakfast, I was able to have the pancakes, pork bacon, chicken and pork sausage, breakfast potatoes, various fruits, an omelet consisting of sausage, jalapenos, cheddar, and onions. On top of the chef making made to order omelets, there were waffles available. There were multiple kinds of pastries as well as oatmeal too. My favorite part of the breakfast was the omelet. For the lunch section, I sampled the salad bar, roasted vegetables, forbidden rice, chicken piccata, and orecchiette in an Alfredo sauce with peas. There was a carving station too that consisted of prime rib and ham. It was okay at best. The best was the ham and chicken piccata. The pasta was plain and the prime rib was cooked way too long. For dessert, I had the lemon bar, cherry tart, and chocolate cake. The desserts as a whole were good. My favorite was the lemon bar. read more

The staff works to make the visit comfortable and does go the extra steps And it is just a comfortable place to eat, spend some time and relax. The soups are good. The crab bisque has the right amount of crab. The turkey blt and the executive lunch will get you in and out in a timely manner. The pizza was excellent-thin and crunchy. And the salads are solid. Easy parking in the hotel or galleria and a place to get your thoughts together and recharge. read more

Well, I am surprised to say the least. The service at this restaurant is terrible. My party and I waited several hours for our orders. This was despite us having made a reservation well in advance. It took at least an hour just for appetizers and drinks to arrive at our table. By the time my crab chowder finally came out, it was cold. Items from the menu were also missing. They ran out of snapper, and didn't have Caesar Salad. This, despite both being on the menu. An order of soup for our party was missing. We decided to give the Renaissance Hotel restaurant Watertable a try. I was not very optimistic and glad to report that it was a good experience. Our server, Asia, did a great job. She was attentive, gave recommendations and overall excellent service. For an appetizer we had the Crab Bruschetta which was good but could use some seasoning. For dinner we had Pratt House Cobb with steak and East Harbor Braised Short Rib Pappardelle - both were very good. For dessert we had Smith Island Cake a layered cake with chocolate icing and Strawberry Shortcake with a strawberry mouse and strawberry sauce. Half of the items on their menu were not available (not the restaurant's fault) but the waitress didn't let us know until 10 minutes after she took our orders! I have to admit, I was nervous to go here based on the other reviews, but our service was phenomenal and our food was pretty good too! Our glasses never even got low, thanks to our waiter Tony who was outstanding at his job. He made sure we had everything we needed for our entire time there and kept the table perfectly clean by taking away any finished plates almost immediately. Everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were perfect compared to how small they looked in some of the other review pictures. Our service was really what set this experience over the top though! My family and I came for New Year's Eve dinner and overall, we were not impressed. There was a forty minute delay between our first and second course, which is not only unacceptable but also inconvenient, since dinner was supposed to end at midnight when the fireworks go off, and it was almost midnight when the second course (of five) arrived. The food was only okay and not at all good enough to make up for the wait. It was also too expensive a meal to end up with just okay food and bad service. On the subject of service, though our waiter was friendly, other waiters began a mass cleanup while we were still eating, which was tacky (a photo of this is attached). All in all, this restaudanf isn't a good value and the convenient view of the fireworks at midnight was not enough to make up for okay food and bad service. read more

Located in the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, on the 5th floor, this place has beautiful views of the harbor, as previously mentioned. We didn't get a table by the door, since it was a Friday night and there was a large group by the window, but we did a large and comfortable booth that backed up to the bar. The menu wasn't that extensive, but it did have a couple choices featuring the crab, so it met our criteria for the evening. After finding out from the waiter that the crab salad was actually mayonnaise based crab salad on top of mixed greens, I opted for the mussels and the crab cake appetizer. The mussels were delicious - creamy broth with herbs and lots of flavor. The crab cake was good, but seemed small and unimpressive for the price. The pieces of crab in the cake were small and there seemed to be more filler that I would have expected for this upscale place. The most impressive part - the miniature "shovel" (aka spoon) that my colleague got to eat her crab chowder in a bread bowl (see the picture). While at first it seemed ridiculous, the shovel-shaped spoon was actually perfect for piercing the bread bowl and scooping the chowder. read more

Worth the visit. Outstanding views of the Baltimore Inner Harbor and very, very good food. Service was good and friendly. The only item I didn't like is the ambiance. It looks like a ballroom, or just another part of the Renaissance Hotel that was made into an ad-hoc restaurant. With some decorations, foliage, dividers, etc., it could be a really romantic place instead of a warehouse lookalike. My BF and I went there at 7:30 PM and had reservations. We were immediately seated and attended by a nice waitress who exuded friendliness. After some champagne, we shared the crab-cake appetizer, outstanding! Then it was time for the salad, a wonderful fresh house salad with feta cheese. We both had the rockfish, delicately flavored and cooked just right. We washed it down with a bottle of Pinot Noir. Overall an excellent place for dinner. My only constructive critic is the decor. Needs a little TLC to make it different from a hotel ballroom. read more
