Towards the "Interchange" side of Meadowhall, this branch has been recently refurbished to the modern Waterstones store concept, which I really like and has pleased me at other locations including Metrocentre in the North East, and Westfield London White City.
The store was quite large and had some hand-written notes and recommendations on books, an idea which I liked - I did find the writing quite hard to read through which was a shame, compared to other locations which were much clearer.
They seemed to stock a wide selection of book genres, as expected however the selection of books was average in some regards such as Biography, Education and Sports sections.
Again, this store suffered from lack of staff, I must have only seen one or two staff members who were only at the tills - at least one more staff member on the shop floor to assist customers, adding a more personalised approach to books would have been nice.
A cool modern book-store, having visited this branch before and after the transformation, Waterstones at Meadowhall has been transformed to a solid 3.5-star book-shop, albeit it is a shame to say this place is more deserving of a three-star rating than a four as it doesn't impress me enough, with too many minor flaws to warrant over a solid average 3*. read more
