After a stretch of three days where we couldn't really do much reading, due to socializing and the general lack of sleep, we found ourselves at Inverness' Eastgate Centre, where we first indulged in some caffeine. We then moseyed on over to this Waterstone's which at first reminded me of what American bookstores were like about fifteen years ago.
Except that the likes of Borders, Waldenbooks, and Barnes & Noble were never as well stocked as this place. My wife and I spent close to an hour perusing the materials, and easily could have doubled that if it weren't for the fact that this would be our only full day in this fine town. Everything you need to know about Scotland History, Sport and Life was for sale, as well as many "world mainstream" novella. Center tables with Buy 2 Get 1 free were aplenty, and I found myself purchasing items regarding 80's English Pop History, a Scottish murder mystery, and a brief book on World War II for not a lot of pounds. Wife also was productive, buying eight books, mostly for pleasure.
I only wish this place would have had a café inside, that way one could sip up their pleasures while increasing their brainpower. Until then, you'll have to do that elsewhere. read more
