What you want (when you're just in town for a few days on vacation and your computer is on the fritz) is a computer/tech-savvy dude who picks up the phone, asks you a few questions, and makes recommendations, even if they don't involve using his services. This is basically what happened. My daughter's laptop wasn't charging. We thought it might be the power adapter. He talked me through the issue, said the power adapter must be working, since the computer worked while it was plugged in (just didn't charge). He thought it was probably the battery (which was something he couldn't fix--we'd obviously have to order it from Dell). He also offered for us to come down and try his chargers if we wanted to, but was more than happy to pleasantly provide some basic advice over the phone for free and let it be. read more
