This church has everything you are looking for. Amazing worship team, great and wise pastor that has a funny sense of humor. We all laugh at least twice during his sermons but then are explain thoughtfully the lessons of the Bible and how to bring them into our everyday lives. The crowd is warm and welcoming. All the staff have been so kind. I went to Waters Church by myself for the first time about 6-7months ago. It is so hard going by yourself but again the joy, laughter, and the happiness that fills this church made me keep coming. I love it here so much, please come and give Waters Church one try. This is the type of church where if you don't fit into the box they want you to fit in they'll get rid of you any way they can. So much so that they'll do it to the expense of leaving behind Jesus' teachings and principles. Let me explain. My little sister who has Down syndrome and autism got kicked out of the church for that specific reason. My parents who had been going to the church for 11 years,and brought home children that they adopted were told they could come only if they left my adopted little sister home. She is not and was not violent. There was no reason other than she did not fit into their plan to have her keep going. If a child that was adopted and not welcome into Waters Church, was thrown out and discarded, what does that say about them? Did Jesus not say in Matthew 19:14 "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Did the Bible also not tell us in James 1:27 to look after widows and orphans in their distress? Says a lot about a place who claims to follow Scripture. read more

Amazing place! Excellent worship team! We visited when on vacation and up in Massachusetts seeing family. Great people and atmosphere. They even have earplugs for noise sensitive people like myself. Coffee is blessed! Im on a worship team in NC and watched a video of a guitarist who is btw amazing and i learned how to play a song from them for our regular church. Anyway had to visit when up north and glad we did i really enjoyed the service and it really was the first time I really felt like i accepted Jesus into my heart, I've said it before but that day was it. Fast forward to the end of the summer and my whole family was baptized at our local church. All for the glory of our lord Jesus! read more

The Life Groups at Waters are horrible. The leaders kick you out out their programs will nilly, not practicing forgiveness, although they'll preach it, and I have seen it on more than one occasion that they are not true friends but just want to brain wash you to only believe what they and especially Pastor Tim says is "right." I've hesitated a lot on writing about Waters. It's a very fancy church. And I truly loved it for the few years that I went. However I believe that the bigger this church gets the more radical it's becoming. The pastor has great stage presence and he can really convey his feelings. This past Sunday he began service asking us to turn down our "offense" meters and began to tell us he won't tell us how to vote but then told us who to vote for in the upcoming local elections. They were in his words two women who knew what a real woman is. A clear offense to the trans and lgbtq community. And continued to bash the lgbtq community by stating that they were demonic and targeting Christian's. I just don't think this is the type of rhetoric Jesus would support. That's my personal belief. Love is written in the Bible over 700 times. Gayness is mentioned about 7? Love is even defined and instructed in the Bible. Love your neighbor as you love yourself, the good samaritan; Jesus states that we are all one body, that there is no longer gentile Jew slave or free. more importantly we were all created in the image of God, we are ALL children of God. And lastly, let he who has not sinned throw the first stone....and even Jesus did not condemn her...So I could be wrong; but I just felt really disgusted by the sermon and I left 5 minutes in. Music was great and ambiance is lots of fun though. It just all depends on what you support and unfortunately I no longer support the message being taught there. read more

My family and I attempted to come here for Christmas service this year. We all live in Tiverton and we were very excited when this church opened up only to walk away without the word of God being poured into us here is why. They literally turned us away because we have a six-year-old child in our family group and they wanted to force her to go into the children's room and I said well this is our first time can we all just sit together in the back and they literally refused us and allowed us to walk away this is not how a church should run it is not Gods fault or Jesus fault it is the people running services under his name who need to reevaluate because everyone should be allowed to be witnessed to and this is not OK I also notice that we were not the first people to leave a comment on their poor practices. read more

We went to Waters Church two weeks ago for the first time bringing along with us our friend who is a brand new Christian, and our LGBTQ son, who finally agreed to go to church and hear the word of God. It was a horrific experience. The music was nice but then the sermon started. It was just a giant hate speech against the LGBTQ community to the extreme. I was mortified. I know there are many views and beliefs that differ among Christians. That's totally fine. But for a pastor to not just disagree, but actually spread an entire hate sermon about the LGBTQ community is unfathomable. We are to act like Jesus. Jesus meet us where we are in our brokenness no matter who we are, no matter what opinion we have, or what belief. We the church are to act like Christ, and do the same. I remove my family as fast as I could but the damage was done by opportunity to share the word of God with my LGBTQ son is lost for now. As a mother, that breaks my heart. I will try again in another way. This church is dangerous. They will destroy lives. read more

If you follow Jesus the refreshing feeling of the ACTUAL word of god being spoken in todays self-focused, self-opinionated, and self-centered society is what we all need. The people and environment here is absolutely amazing, second to none in New England. The preaching is completely grounded in the Bible, and thus the word of the lord. As it has been for thousands of years, speaking the real truth, vs your own personal truth, will always offend some people, as you can even see within these Yelp reviews. They were not welcoming. Very clicky. There was a guest speaker from Mission church in Medford, Mass that acted like he didn't notice me because I was on crutches and probably thought I wouldn't be able to buy one of his books he was selling after his sermon at a table. read more

"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of God." Saddened, disheartened and disgusted to learn as we visited that children under 10 are not allowed in the service, no exception. Not even for praise and worship. What's the harm of allowing children to praise and enter the Kingdom through music even from the back of the sanctuary with the opportunity for parents to take their kids out if need be? You hear adults all the time mention how beautiful and moving worship can be, that hearing certain songs at the right time captures their hearts, yet Waters deprives children of the experience. Ironic to see upcoming child dedication (specific to 10 and under) on the site when those same children aren't welcomed to be in the sanctuary on a regular basis. The same hands you see lifted in the pictures and videos praising God here are the hands shutting souls out of the Kingdom. We were physically blocked by several people from entering the sanctuary, doors were quickly shut in our face as we were walking to enter. Shuffled into an 8x10 "mothers room" with 6 other children and their mothers and my child who regularly sits quietly through full services elsewhere. When asked about this odd policy, the person from Waters responded, "We're the only church in the area that does this, the leaders are very passionate about it." That's not something to be proud of. This member was not only telling the moms in the room that their children were not welcome, but the saddest part is she is expecting and probably didn't realize her soon-to-be child will also not be welcomed in her church either. The Nursery was full of crying babies and I was not comfortable leaving my child in their already overwhelmed hands. Other parents were called to retrieve their kids from the nursery and shuffled into the small room, too. The TV broadcasting the service in the mothers room's sound didn't work. Overall the experience there came across as, "Your child is a burden, stay in this room out of sight from everyone else." Families bringing their children to church want their children to hear the Word of God together, worship as a family and build habits of learning from Biblically sound teaching. Sadly this is not the experience at Waters "Church." Young families being intentional with raising your children, seeking Godly examples and mentors should probably look elsewhere. While I would not consider this a family church, it may be a better fit for late teens- twenty something's looking for a modern vibe/ coffee-house aesthetic they prioritize. Can't really comment on the teaching as we weren't allowed to listen either way, but based on how they treat people honestly I'm not entirely confident we missed anything of value. It has potential once the church realizes how detrimental it is to exclude the future of the church and turning away souls rather than embracing them. "A church without crying is a church that is dying," and a possible crying child doesn't *fit the vibe* here. read more

At one point Waters was a great church. The Small Groups, the people. But then Covid hit, and that's when everything came to light, and even though the Director of Pastoral Cate who gas lighted me, and used me to basically baby sit Children's Ministry for not one but two services, and then claimed there was something wrong with me because I got burned out commuting for over an hour back and forth and not being able to attend church, accused me of the following: I've been eating at very expensive restaurants, I bought a $5,000.00 suit, it was actually $669.00 from $1,795.00, (maybe his wife should meet with one of the teachers at Waters Kids to go over numbers. although he reached out over a year later via text and was basically I hope you are doing well, this was not out of genuine concern but due to a Sarcastic and Satirical FB Post that didn't even mention Waters by name, apparently he and the Executive Pastor were not happy about. I was told by said Director of Pastoral Care to buy a plane ticket because I was going to Guatemala, and then was told I couldn't go, was never reimbursed, when I was told I would. All in all I gave Waters Church over $10,000.00 and I have the receipts to back up my claim. I still hate the fact that I got duped and suckered. I am now in the process of getting counseling due to Spiritual Abuse from the leaders of Waters Church. Sadly I have spoken to a few others who have left due to the same treatment I received. There are plenty of churches, Waters should not be on your list. I learned the hard way as did. many former parishioners. I wish I never went to Waters, it sure would have saved me a lot of pain and money. read more

Pastor Tim is one of the best in my opinion. His messages are to the point and he crafts them in a way that makes sense. There is a strong sense of community in the Church, and there are many other great pastors like Pastor Chris. They provide fantastic classes on finances and baptisms among other things. As someone who is involved i. it, I can confidently say that the youth group is also phenomenal, with Pastor Lemi leading it.10/10 Would recommend if you're looking for a non-denominational place to worship. read more

Pastor Tim gives some good sermons but it seems that as time goes on, he continues to push the envelope as to how far he can go before he offends. A lot of subjects like mental health are discussed as being invalidated, which is truly damaging to those suffering from extreme mental illness who need to take medications to have functioning lives. Nothing is black and white, including mental health treatment. Unless you've dealt with mental illness yourself at the level of incapacitating, while also having a true and deep connection with God, this should not be spoken on. Mental health and physical health are similar in that, if God chooses to not miraculously heal at this moment, medication is available for those who are suffering, which is also a gift from God as many believe. Taking medication doesn't mean we are brainwashed by big Pharma; this is veering on the side of intolerant and a pastor shouldn't be bragging about how he offends people. Theres a difference between offending and correcting, if something needs to be corrected. Getting one star reviews isn't something to brag about; I can assume many of these one star reviews are not about being offended by scripture but by the delivery. My hairdresser who I adore - had told me about this church. She even had a few of Pastor Tim's online sermons so that I could listen to him and the way he preached ... to share with me. I haven't been to church in a while, got married in a Catholic Church with the pastors basically speaking for 15-20 minutes after the gospel about how we are all sinners and basically made you feel like you're going to h*ll anyway. It seemed more of a scare tactic than an actual homily. It was also repetitive. Same thing year after year - nothing new, no new words of wisdom. I also didn't like the "rules" the Catholic Church puts upon you, even though I was forced to go to catholic school for 6 years, because I didn't believe an ordained priest that is a sinner like all of us, should be the one that listens to your sins, and then tells you to say 5 hail Mary's and 3 our fathers and you're absolved of sin. I wanted someone who was passionate in their preachings. Who had something different to say each week, and I enjoyed the enthusiasm from the congregation. You don't see that at a regular Catholic Church, that's for sure. (At least not where I live) If you're looking to go back to church after years of not going, and learning new and enlightening preachings, this is the church for you. It's nice because you can listen to pastor Tim online before you even attend to see if you like it. read more

I select 3 because it can be the best of churches, and it can be the worst of churches. I think what drives your experience is how much you are like they are. They are white, conservative, leadership tends to be middle class, Americans from mostly European decent, and they are straight. They say they welcome gays. They also say homosexuality is sinful. They do not support the ex-gay movement. That leaves abstinence by default. To be honest I've never heard them describe how the gay should live, only not live. I'm not gay. I'm mentally ill. I am more than they are comfortable with. I have been asked to switch "groups" and be silent. I have been asked to leave the front row because my outfit was "distracting" [though in no way obscene] twice. I am an artist, ha ha. I will still go back, quietly, sitting in the back in stead of the front row. I will keep my mouth shut and not try to be involved and open minded. I will enjoy the usually pretty good sermons, and take home what I can. But I will not try to offer them any of myself any more. I am different, and rejection hurts. read more

I have always considered myself a spiritual person but not a religious person. I went to this church for their acceptance of everyone. I love that pastor Tim and his wife are real. They're not perfect and don't pretend to be. But they teach you how to change your mindset (overtime) to "suffer well. Because everyone suffers. It's how you handle it that defines you". I have been unable to attend due to various reasons but have kept in mind the things said and watch the service on their YouTube channel when I can't make it. I have been going through a LOT of family issues. After watching the video last night I prayed. I then went to sleep. I woke up (as I do multiple times a night) but this time I looked at the clock and it was 3:33 ( the holy trinity). The next time I woke up it was 5:55 ( Jesus Christ in numerology comes down to 5) to me that was a sign that Jesus is now with me giving me the strength to get through this. I can't wait to get back this Sunday. Oh. My 5 year old also loves the child care. read more

I used to love going to church every Sunday or Saturday when I found waters. The youth group is where I really connected with friends. As I got older and continued attending the church changed as well. It became more about money and humiliating people who didn't share the same ideas completely as the church did. The musicians and sound production is world class and the ambiance is amazing. They have a huge kids area and even a cafe and lounge. I went to this church for the first time after being invited by my manager. I got there and it was so much more than she described! The greeters and everyone I met was so friendly and they all had smiles on their faces. I got a tour of the facility which is great. I had my 3 yr old with me so it was a plus that they have designated rooms for them( sort of like a baby sitter). This is my 3rd week going in a row. I loved it so much I brought my daughter with me. The atmosphere of the church is such a breath of fresh air! This is a great place to rekindle, find or figure out about Jesus Christ. Great Bible based Church and Pastor Tim does a great job and he even does a Wed talk show that goes over the Bible too and explains other things. I have learned alot hear and i go to Church to be taught the word and thats what you get here. Some people may not like to hear it, but its Gods word and Pastor Tim delivers it as clearly as can be. He takes time to explain the Word. Great for Community to join together and also there are many groups to join people together and great Missions work. My mother attended this church. Passed away and we (her daughters) asked Pastor Tim to say some words at her services. I was contacted by another gentleman who was doing the service, Pastor Tim was on vacation and we gladly accepted. John mentioned several times his attempted suicide attempts at moms services and it was disturbing. My own moms funeral and I was mortified by his sermon. He kept saying my mom was saved by being dead and her grandchildren were there. I have been to waters several times with my mom and never did the Pastor ever speak of this. Suicide? seriously? was this about my MOM or about John the ex depressant? I complained on facebook to the pastor and never got response so I am warning you here. DO NOT allow them to say your funeral services as John made it about him and his past depressing experiences instead of focusing on My MOM who died and her life. We were celebrating HER LIFE not his. so disappointing. read more

This church has an incredible worship and very sound gospel sermons. HOWEVER! Many things are put into question. The church itself apart from its sermons and worship time puts it's church into question. 1.. You're not considered a real and legitimate member of that church unless you do there membership classes. People won't engage with you unless you do what they want. 2. It's too cliquey! This church is full of drama and cliques. The people hang within there own groups. If you're not into cliques and you want to get involved don't bother. They'll mostly give you the cold shoulder or the runaround. 3. Parking attendants are terrible. You'll have five or six parking attendees telling you to park in a space when it only takes ones . Half of the time it becomes overwhelming and annoying when you're trying to park and they're in your way. It's like they almost want you to hit them with your car. 4. Pastor Tim will at times make passive aggressive low blows at other denominations and churches that don't align themselves with their specific ideologies and beliefs. It's uncalled for. 5. They recently had there own version a "Day Glow" a rave for Christian.ls. They make there concerts such as these too secular. Apart from these this church is great. I go to spend time with the Lord. I don't engage with anyone at the church. Too much drama and unrealistic rules. Go on your own accord not there to avoid issues. read more

The church for those who don't do church, or church for those who haven't been before, or never got anything from there childhood church, its a modern church, it's for those looking for a new begging, salvation, hope, connection or reconnection to Christ. This church is absolutely saved my life, marriage, gave me and my family peace, hope, faith, and has offered us love and support in the arms of Jesus. We leave feeling as if we can change the world and it has completely changed ours! Pastor Tim is passionate, a strong leader, and uplifting. His wife Cheryl has empathy, compassion, and is very approachable. They do so much to serve the community, and consistently have things in the works to help other countries in need. As a new comer, we feel so welcomed and comfortable. I've brought a few friends and they all continue to come. The cafe has great food and volunteers that serve with a smile! The book store has new interesting reads, the kids rooms are full of joy and my niece being new felt like a regular treated with amazing love and kindness from the staff. I have to say, I am not a religious person. However, I was intrigued by a church that claims it is for "people who don't go to church". Upon visiting this "church", I became thoroughly disturbed. Yes it was welcoming, but in a cult-like creepy way. Everything about this place screamed "cult" to me. From the flashy, obnoxious "services", to the actual sermons that were preached - it all just screams "this is a cult". And then came the requests for money. I was disgusted by the way they manipulate people into donating to line their own pockets. And let me tell you, I may not be religious, but I am fully aware of when someone alters scripture in order to suit their own needs & wants. I'm not sure what altered version of the bible they are using, but I know for a fact that what they were reciting the day I was there, was not quite the way it was written in conventional bibles. To be perfectly honest, this "church" scares the hell out of me, as it seems to be recruiting more & more people into its cult-like ways. I know several people who attend services here. To be perfectly honest, the people I do know, along with the people I met while I was there, seem frighteningly brainwashed. I will never set foot in or around this place again. read more

I went to Waters because I looking for new place connect to God and a community after recently moving into the area after graduating college. I had high hopes from what I'd seen of other reviews and their website. However, when I walked in the first thought that came to mind was "flashy." Worship consisted of big lights and effects and a camera crew projecting their faces on two big screens, when I could see the singers just fine from where I was near the back. I felt a little uncomfortable that they would spend so much money on this. When they collected offering, they gave out buckets and buckets, and I honestly didn't feel my money would be doing something great here, not after they announced they'd just had an app developed for their church, which is a great tool for spreading the access of church, but in ways I felt as if they were showing off their wealth. Then the pastor started to talk, which presented me with REALLY mixed feelings. He talked about judgement and what it meant to judge and be judged as a Christian. I was intrigued, until he started mocking other churches and actually used the word hussy to describe someone and meant it. That "hussy" might be sitting in your church needing God as much as, or more than, any other Christian. It also came off as quite sexist, and I felt terribly disappointed. It felt like a harsh judgement to me. In short, I felt he was saying that all other churches aren't good, but Waters is the best and knows the perfect balance of judgement, which I couldn't agree with after the way he mocked those other churches, half of which was just to get a good laugh out of the audience. But since I was being preached to about judgement, I tried to keep my mind open, and he did raise some good points and used scripture well. By the end, I did feel welcomed to this church, the people were very nice and the woman sitting beside me was very sweet and let me share her Bible with her. It was a very welcoming place, very loving, I just didn't feel as if they lived up to what they were preaching, and I think I'd like to go to a church a bit more humble and a little less flashy. read more
