The members were somewhat off-putting. The reception dinner had free wine / and beer outside. You had to pay for wine and cocktails in the hall. Not all that unusual from my experience. However you also had to pay for soda? I had heard that there was a charge for water, not sure on this. The food was ok for buffet food. Beef and overcooked chicken selection, pasta with a watery alfredo sauce. the scalloped potatoes were delicious. You had to request coffee with cake. Service was slowish and very inconsistent. One of our groups kids disappeared and we were looking for her. Again not all that unusual, (lol). This place does have a few more halls than your average reception hall. I ventured over to the "Member's only" section. I was given grief for coming over there until they heard the that a little girl was missing. They did not offer any help however? I did see a family sitting in different sections of the members only group. Adults and kids. They were essentially sneering at each other. I thought this was very odd. We found Libby and all was well. At the end of the reception with no regular supply of free non-alcoholic drinks, surprise there was an argument about the ownership of some golf carts left in front of the building with the keys in them. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. This could have been avoided by the staff by putting the damn things away after dark, or how about taking the keys out of the ignition? I sure hope I am not invited to another wedding at this venue by close friends.

The male bartender was somewhat helpful to my wife but the lady's that worked in the bar were not. I think that when a private club allows outsiders to come in there venue that they should try to be more helpful, We could be your future members if we were treated like we were welcome instead of outsiders that do not belong there, Just food for thought to the membership committee,

In light traffic, Bellerive is located about 20-30 minutes west of the city of St. Louis and only 15-20 minutes southwest of the airport. This is a private club that was established in 1897. The current golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1960. Since then, the club has hosted three majors: the 1965 US Open, the 74th PGA Championship in 1992, and the 100th PGA Championship in 2018. It's also hosted two senior majors, the 2004 US Senior Open and the 2013 Senior PGA Championship, as well as the 2008 BMW Championship, the second-to-last tournament of the FedExCup Playoffs. Brooks Koepka (-16) won the 2018 PGA Championship by two strokes over Tiger Woods (-14) who finished in sole possession of 2nd place. On Sunday, Tiger shot the best score of his career in the final round of a major (64). Unfortunately, it was too little, too late against a dominant force like Koepka who refused to give up the lead. It was very exciting to watch, especially at the time. Tiger was getting closer and closer to winning his 15th major, his first in what would have been 10 years. Less than a month prior, he had sole possession of the lead early in the final round of the Open Championship at Carnoustie. After several winless and absent years on Tour, the possibility of Tiger winning a major championship had become real again. The month after the 2018 PGA Championship at Bellerive, Tiger won his first PGA Tour event since 2013 with a victory at the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. Bellerive Country Club did a great job getting the grounds ready for the best golfers in the world including the legendary Tiger Woods on a comeback trail. Despite rain and typical summer weather in the Midwest, St Louis fans came out in huge numbers to support this awesome event. All of the players, including Tiger... said St. Louis was the best crowd they ever played for. Thank Bellerive Country Club for being gracious hosts and the PGA for bringing the 100th Championship to STL!

Jackson Country Club is a pretty solid gold course in Southern Illinois. Not the longest course in…read morethe world so there are holes out there where low scoring can be had. Greens are in good shape and for the most part fairways are fairly flat. We are in a bit of dry spell currently so some areas of the tee boxes were a little hard, but still not terrible. Food at the turn was very good and it appears they make most of it from scratch. Always nice to see! If you are in the Carbondale area it is a solid course to play. Will definitely play another round in the future.

The members are always friendly and it truly is a country club where everyone enjoys the amenities together. From the new pickle-ball groups, tennis, golf leagues, bocce league etc...there is not a shortage of things to do. Recently they revamped kitchen and menu and since then the food has been very satisfying from some higher end seafood dishes to chicken wings...they have whatever you are looking for.
