The lines for the food has gotten longer. What can you do? Gotta eat. lol What I've learned is just to get the stuff I don't get very often. Stuffed angel wings & Cambodian style fried bananas, especially. Since it's hot, grab some more food to take home & have a refreshing drink for the ride home too, since it's so hot. Glad all the huge statues are still there. Still very colorful place. Love coming here for the New Year to celebrate. Just gotta know what you're doing, because it's very crowded.

I can't really speak to the usual Sunday services as I'm usually here for family events such as weddings, funerals, memorials and reunions. Located on the delta area, the car park is now gated and there is barbed wire surrounding the fence. I suppose this part of Stockton hasn't really improved (?). The interior is just beautiful with lots of gold detail and the adjacent rec hall has a large kitchen and basketball facilities. There is also a small garden area and I believe in the summer they have their annual Buddhist Church Bazaar where you can eat teriyaki chicken, kids can play games to win prizes and you can catch up with friends and family. I'm not a heavy religious type of person -- coming to the church has become more a cultural thing than as a practicing Buddhist, although I admire a lot of the tenets of Buddhism: non-violence; nothing is fixed or permanent; actions have consequences; and change is possible.

Had the opportunity to experience the Japanese food bazaar here last weekend. It was our first time…read more& I'm sure it won't be our last. The chicken teriyaki was the best ever plus Asian chicken salad. I had the spam musubi & my son had the curry with rice. Our family also had their shaved ice: green tea & SF strawberry with ice cream! They had a collectible show which had been going on for the last four years. Like we have been living under a rock! We must return again to check it out in the future when we have more time. Next year maybe? If we aren't traveling elsewhere...life is good!

They also have events for Thai citizens to get their Thai passports and Thai ID cards renewed. Very convenient!

Come and see for yourself…read more Wat Chaimongkol is well known by supporting from the people in different locations such as Bay areas, Fairfield, San Francisco and etc. Later on, June 25, 2009 is regarded as the best auspicious day of the time 9 A.M. and 9 minutes. All monks officially moved in living until now. Nowadays, Wat Chaimongkol is also officially acknowledged as a member of Assembly of Thai Monks organization so that it is a legal institutation in both secular and religious views. The total area of the current place is nearly a half of an acre with two buildings. In the big building with 2,422 sq. ft., there are 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1 reception room, 1 kitchen room and 1 dining room. In the small building with 900 sq.ft. there are 2 bedrooms 1 store-room and a 2 car garage. The space between two buildings is suitable for doing activities. Moreover, there is a large area at the front suitable for 10 cars parking excluded from the area of main road and than of informal education school.

Everything and anything you could think of was taken care of: clear posted directions for items, how to go "in" and "out," runners for food as you played Bingo, special parking for entertainers, reasonable prices for delicious food-such a variety too from BBQ oysters to traditional Japanese fare, and especially the variety of games (and only 1 ticket!) for the kids ALL with a consolation prize! Kudos to all who had organized, built, donated, cooked, participated, performed, etc for making this two day event enjoyable for all interests and ages.
