An update on a previous Yelp post from 2021 I would assign zero stars to Waste Management if possible. They are the worst trash hauler I have ever dealt with. They are rude, unreliable, and charge for services not performed. They also have rogue employees who cancel customers pre-paid accounts when a driver doesn't feel like servicing an area (for an earlier quit). I discovered that WM "cancelled" my account (which was current and paid up) in July 2021, because apparently, a rogue driver, Ed H., decided to cease serving our community to lighten his load. WM never bothered contact me that I was no longer considered a customer. Mercifully, they are so inept that In December 2021 I signed up via my (still open) account for EzPay, a pre-payment system that bills my credit card. (Previously they mailed a quarterly invoice, which I always paid immediately). Reliable service resumed for the month of December 2021, and the first two weeks of January 2022. Curiously, they never billed by credit card for January. I thus had to resubmit my service request for February (they have my CC info on file), but as of 2/20/2022, I have had no trash or recycle pickup service. When I contacted WM customer service in Texas via chat and later, via email on 2/9/2022, they told me that my account had been cancelled in July 2021 since my community was deemed "unsafe". Huh? They had been picking up my trash (albeit sporadically), and they took my money, yet I am "cancelled". I enquired what was "unsafe", but they refused to divulge that information. I asked why I was never notified that my (still open) account, with my CC information, was "cancelled" they said they didn't have to tell me why. I suspect that their (now fired) rogue driver, Ed H., maliciously utilized the WM computer system to "cancel" customers, so that he wouldn't have as many stops (our Beech Lake-served route currently has 212 pickup stops, at each one the driver (who has no helper) has to dismount the cab and manually dump cans into the back of the truck. WM Beech Lake is a cheap-o outfit that does not utilize automated trucks that can dump cans remotely operated by the driver in the cab, such as other area trash haulers have. After several further email corresponds with WM customer service in Texas, "Brandy" curtly reiterated that our community is "unsafe" (with no explanation), that our community customers are "cancelled" and THAT'S IT. FYI, I am the Secretary and Board Member of Beechwood Cove Community in Palmyra Twp (Pike) PA. I understand that several other Lake communities (Hemlock Point, Penn Woods, etc.) have had similar bad experiences with WM. What a miserable, non-customer-focused company. They deserve to fail!

If I could give this company a negative number, I would. If you are expecting to get in touch with a live person regarding your trash pick up, forget it. They changed the schedule without notifying us, always showed up late or not at all. My husband had to take our trash to the local dump and pay more money. We ended up canceling with them because we sold our house and they charged a $100 pick up fee to get their containers. Terrible service, terrible customer service, horrible communication, and overpriced.

Sorry, I have to drop from 2 to 1 star. Two months after canceling our service, paying to have them pick up their cans, etc, they send me a $13.50 invoice for "administrative fees" and "late fees". Armed with info of all invoices and payments on time, we called, the woman didn't argue at all, and canceled the charges in 30 seconds. They are crooks!!!! They probably figure if only a quarter of past customers pay these bogus invoices, it's a pretty good income stream. OMG read more

3 weeks in a row my garbage was not picked up and each week i was given a difference excuse. The 4th week I'm sitting in my car waiting for them to make it is picked. I requested a credit on my account for not picking up instead they blamed me for not having my container out. My container has been at the end of my parking pad for more than 5 yrs. save your self the trouble go someone where else. read more

There was a small TV thrown in the recycling bin by accident at ny residence. I came home tonight to the TV in the middle of the road, smashed because the driver was too lazy or whatever excuse there is to not get out of their vehicle to move it off of the road I do not appreciate the way waste management has gone downhill with its employees work ethic read more

Three straight weeks no garbage pickup keeps saying weather related yet all their competitors UPS FedEx gas and oil companies have no issue each time you speak with customer service they give you a different answer and today they said they only hire professional drivers that's why they could not drive on a flat road because they claimed it was slippery when I asked are you saying all those other companies hire on professional drivers they did not even respond now they refuse to get the garbage and the cans must be emptied to cancel I am literally the last one that used the service on my street all other houses had canceled them over the past year I guess I should have done it sooner they lost every single home on the road that should tell them something but apparently it does not read more

Do yourself a favor and read the comments about this company. They're all true. They routinely miss picking up recycling...are next to impossible to contact, and the cost goes up every billing cycle. I understand they're in the trash business, but that doesn't mean the company should also be trash....but it is. Avoid these idiots like the plague. Waste Management just straight up sucks. Definitely should be zero stars. read more

Price increase this year was too great , they reduced 100.00 and still was over 100.00 over another company. Took me 4 days to cancel , can't cancel online nor through chat. Wait time first call was 30 minutes , still not able to get through . 15 minute wait next time. still could not get through. Finally get through today get it cancelled $ 75.00 fee to pick up their containers . They should remain in street for 7-10 days ??? Good luck with that in the winter.Service was always good just not a great ending read more

They are the most expensive in the business AND when you terminate at the end of the contract, with appropriate notification in writing delivered certified mail, they still charge you another $110 to pick up your garbage can. They also charge to pickup your christmas tree, any large items, basically anything that doesn't go in their can. We switched to Whitetail, went from over $500/year to less than $300, and they picked up our christmas tree, take 1 bulk item/week, and give you a much larger recycling bin. read more

Live on mt bethel hwy and my trash has been missed now 2 weeks in a row and u call to get ur trash serviced and they tell u what they want u to hear and do nothing, me and 3 of my neighbors keep going threw this with waste, I had to deal with this 2 months ago also. They have failed to pick up our recycling 5 of the last 6 biweekly cycles. The company is impossible to contact. My neighbor across the street has had the same problem. The only reasons I haven't switched services are (1) the company is impossible to contact (!) and (2) the other two waste removal services in my neighborhood also have terrible reviews. I'm about ready to box up my recycling and leave it on the lawn of their local office. As a courtesy, I'd call to let them know it's coming but they have an unlisted number read more

I've been a customer for over 5 years and I've had enough. I routinely had to call and pester them to empty my dumpster. When I would call, more often than not I'd be greeted by a customer service agent who acted as though my call was an intrusion. I would then be informed that the driver listed my service as being completed when it wasn't, then had to argue to get them to empty it without charging me an extra fee for an additional service that didn't happen in the first place. It's currently July 5th and my dumpster hasn't been emptied since May 8th. I have maggots crawling around my driveway. I called last week and Terminated service and was quoted $384 to remove the dumpster after not receiving any service! It was supposed to be removed Thursday, then Friday and then Today.... guess what's still not emptied or removed? Absolutely would not recommend this company for any type of trash service. So glad I'm getting rid of this headache! read more

When we moved in from out of state 5 years ago, I selected Waste Management because things are done differently in PA and I didn't know any better. They were a familiar name. I recently canceled service with them, and over a week after the cancellation notification, they withdrew $500 from my checking account for next year's fees. Of course they're refunding, but they won't refund the overdraft fees, and they implied that their withdrawal was my fault because I didn't cancel the payment authorization when I canceled the account. I've filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office, but am posting here... beware! (and my new, local company is 1/2 the cost). read more

Waste Management = Poor Service I am writing a timeline of the events that have occurred. August 26, 2013 - I ordered service for a 96 Gallon Container - Curbside Pick Up at my house (1537 Center Street, Bethlehem, PA). I paid $85.61 for three months of service. August 29, 2013 - I received an e-mail from Monet Dowers confirming my Curbside Pick up. The start date was 9/3 and the trash service day was Wednesdays. September 4, 2013 - Trash was not picked up. September 7, 2013 - I e-mailed customer service asking when I would receive the 96 gallon toter. September 7, 2013 - cseasternpa@wm.com sent an email back stating that it can take up to 10 business days and that I should place bags without a canister outside until the toter is delivered. September 11, 2013 - Called customer service. I spoke with Tamalya at the call center. She told me I did not order the service with the 96 gallon toter and that if I did, I should forward the email to wmadmin@west.com. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I was transferred to Kelly. Kelly arranged a special pick up on Thursday for me and said she would work on getting me the toter. She would call me on Thursday to let me know how it worked out. September 12, 2013 - No call from Kelly. However, trash was pick up as Kelly had stated she would arrange. September 16, 2013 - I email Kelly asking about the toter. September 16, 2013. - Jennifer calls me stating that Kelly is no longer with the company and that she would be handling my account.She promises me that she would call the local office on Tuesday morning and get everything handled. She would call me in the morning. September 17, 2013 - No call from Jennifer. I call her late afternoon. She states that she was busy but that the trash would be picked up and the toter would be delivered on Wednesday Morning. She would reimburse me for one month payment and apply it to my next bill. She would personally call the local center and confirm that it had been done. September 17, 2013 - I get an e-mail statement saying that I owe your company $0.89. September 18, 2013 - No call from Jennifer. No trash had been picked up. No toter was delivered. I call Jennifer and speak with her supervisor. I express my disgust with the company. I cancel my service and demand a refund in the amount of $85.61 by Friday. He states that it takes three days. I am told I will have the refund in my bank account by Monday afternoon. I am told Jennifer will call me by 5:30 (EST). It is now 5:33pm and there has been no phone call. Let me reiterate that I am disgusted with the service that Waste Management provides to it's customers. read more

HORRIBLE!! never pick up your trash ! WORST customer service. They say they will come back for your trash and never do, then say they did but it wasn't out. do they hire blind garbage men?? Common.... I canceled and went elsewhere. Plenty of better garbage companies in the area, that are cheaper!!! read more

WM told us they would pick up trash and recycling. It took three weeks to get a bin, which was then the wrong size...and no recycling bin. When we called they said they didn't do recycling. Misled all the way around. I highly recommend a different company. read more

THE WORST!!!! I put my recycling and GARBAGE out every Thursday night. the recycling WAS not picked up- for the garbage driver said it was not out. REALLY??? I was washing my car when they drove by. I immediately called WM .... they said they would return. NEVER did- tried calling again. did . emailed them twice, Saturday and sent PM SUNDAY. called 3 times Monday- no avail..... sad for the they are very expensive. read more

Said i would get a $40 discount last year, but I never did. They do not reply to the web form emails you send. Called and cancelled twice, but Waste Management's EZ Pay is still taking money out of my checking. Getting different stories from different people when I call. They referred me to Waste Management's EZ Pay, and they said I am cancelled, but I have to call back in 10 days to request a refund--they could not explain why they could not do it immediately, or just jot down my name and refund my money in 10 days. I have been trying to cancel for over a month now with numerous phone calls and emails, and i am still being charged for services I am not receiving. One of the most disorganized companies I have ever dealt with. read more

Recycling is the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Tuesday of each month. If the first is on a Monday or Tuesday it's 3 weeks between pickups. Can't put it out because of bears until pickup day or I have take it down to the recycling center in town myself to dump it. Not much thought put in to this. I did call and complain I'm sure it was a waist of time. Do they really care? read more

I had WM as my garbage pickup when I lived in Stroudsburg, PA. I was evidently owed a refund, which (although I had given them my new address as well as having a forwarding address with the USPS) they sent to my old address on July 11, 2014 from 95691, a Sacramento zip code. Instead of the check being forwarded it was sent "Return Service Requested" and it was sent back to Houston Tx. They did not send it back out to my new address until October 8, 2014 from zip code 77002 ( Houston zip code) and it arrived at my house on October 11, 2014. That would not be that bad except it was a "void after 90 days" check, dated for July 10th. I called the 800 number that Monday, October 13th and was eventually transferred back to the Pennsylvania office. I was told it would be taken care of and thought nothing more of it. Today, October 31st, I received a call from 602-268-2222, which is a Phoenix AZ phone number. The guy that called me said "hey, we just talked a couple of days ago, and I am going to need you to send that check back before they can issue the refund" and wanted me to send the check to HIM. The problem with THAT was they had originally told me all they needed was the check number, and since the check was already voided I could destroy it. I made my dissatisfaction with this abundantly clear and asked to speak to a manager, but she declined to get on the phone with me and the guy said they would have to submit a ticket to the billing department. I told him I had in fact found the check and the envelopes and would be walking it up to the billing department in Pen Argyl next time I was in Pennsylvania. This is a huge company that engages in shady practices to scam a $25 dollar deposit out of someone. Why send it to the old address when they have the new one? Why have them send the check back to them instead of forwarding it to the new address? WHY sit on a check for almost 3 months until it has almost reached its "void by" date? I would not do business with them again ever. read more

Short "redhead" gal at the front window wouldn't even get up after I sat on the scale for 2 minutes while there were no other vehicles on either side of the scale. Pulled forward off scale, and she yelled at me and told me to go back on scale. Two others got in front of me. Finally got back onto scale, after watching her spend way to long to record the weight of two vehicle, I get back up to scale. She asks me for id, then tells me they DO NOT TAKE CASH?!?!? She was rude, and you could tell she was not liking her job at all. Great, another half hour wasted. Should have gone to CHRINS from the start!!! Save yourself the hassle, and GO TO CHRINSSSS!!! read more

I moved in June. I called waste management to cancel my service, and they told me it was canceled. I recieved a bill through the month of June and paid it thinking it was the last bill. I then recieved another bill for July. I called in August to cancel again telling the customer service representative that I had canceled in May. This representative told me that it was now canceled as of June 1. I received another bill in September, and called again. I was given the same spiel. I then got another bill in October. I called again, and told them how I canceled in May, August, & September. I asked for an official letter canceling my service. I did not recieve this letter, and instead got an automated call telling me I owed them money for this address. I again called waste management to cancel, and request a letter that explicitly canceled the service. I finally got a letter in November telling me that they cancelled the service because repeated attempts to collect the money I owed for this address had failed, and if I did not pay I would face the bill going on my credit. My wife called, and they told her that they would refund me. Why the hell wouln't they cancel my service when I called the first five time, and why do I still have to pay them for service that I canceled five times, and did not recieve at an address I do not live at. I HATE WASTE MANAGEMENT, I WISH THEY DID NOT HAVE A MONOPOLY ON GARBAGE SERVICES WHERE I LIVE OR I WOULD CANCEL THEM. THEY WOULD PROBABLY STILL BILL ME ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I called customer service to cancel my service only because their price for residential pick up is the highest in the area. That seemed to go smooth, however, 2 weeks later they deducted the next quarterly payment out of my bank account. I called back and the rep told me I had to cancel the EFT on my account from their website. WHY couldn't the rep tell me that the first time? Then I asked for a refund since I cancelled it before the May 28 pick up. He (Wendel?) said it will take 6 to 8 weeks. WHAT!!!! It sure didn't take that long to withdraw it from my bank account. I asked to speak to the manager. So I held on for 10 minutes. The manager was busy on the phone. At that point the rep told me I'll get the refund in 3 to 5 days. Today its been about day 6. Still no refund. I called back and spoke to Tom. He said it will take 6 to 8 weeks. I guess it doesn't matter what the other rep said. They can say what ever they want and there's no repercussion. They don't record the conversations nor do the put their names on the notes they keep from calls received. Tom said he couldn't put me through to a manager and that a manager or his crew leader would call me back within 24 to 48 hours. The that weasel pulled a fast one at the end of the call. At the onset of the call a recording said I could take a 5 minute survey at the end. Tom did not hang up first. I told me I had to hang up to connect to the survey. Not thinking it though I hung up first. NO survey. I have never seen such POOR customer service. I no they are losing customers left and right. What is the problem here? read more

The absolute worst business that I have ever encountered. Everything about this company is a disgrace. Too many bad things to mention. ALL BAD ! They should be investigated for fraud, racketeering, illegal business practices and shut down. It is not just one branch, it is the entire company. If they ever get busted and I am on the jury I would give the top 100 executives the death penalty. No, I am not bitter, I just want to stress the point that everyone would be better off eating their garbage than to give these archcriminals any business. read more

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! Signed up 8 weeks ago and prepaid for the 96-gallon bins and I still have not had any service. Their customer service is pathetic and they will lie to you over and over again. STAY FAR FAR AWAY read more
