There was one person ahead of me and two available dryers so I figured I would be able to dry them, no problem. One of the dryers was spinning continuously, and the machine noted it as being in use, but it wasn't working and couldn't be stopped. The other wasn't working at all. I wasn't able to dry before close, so I had to hang my laundry dry and wash it again someplace else. I tried to start one of the machines before realizing it wasn't working. The machine took my money and wouldn't return it. Now my hotel room smells like a terrible disinfectant and I wasted my money. I should have listened to the bad reviews.

I am newly here, so my Portuguese is very limited (for the moment), but I always start any conversation with my very best effort to speak Portuguese first. If I can not say it on my own, I will use a language app to assist. Every single person I have ever encountered has been gracious and kind...Not at 5àSec. Outright and unnecessarily rude is exactly how I would describe every single person who works there... which tells me that it comes from the location's manager,... just a guess. I have taken quite a lot of business there, but today was the last straw. never again. I will happily find ANYWHERE else to take my business.. it is ironic that they are so aggressively rude about non-native speakers since they are in the heart of tourist Lisbon. I certainly have no expectation that these folks should be my besties, but it is shame that they spend so much energy making people, like myself, who are trying our best to be considerate feel badly for even trying. if I were upper management at 5àSec, I would maybe transfer these women to a location that is more locally inclined and maybe bring some more considerate and kind people into the location which services a considerable amount of tourists...just a thought.

We've visited and tried other places closer to our place, but the facilities can be dirty and the machines less efficient. When we visited this new location, we were greeted by the owner, Victor, who showed us around the place and helped us navigate the Speed Queen operations, which includes an app that allows you to check the availability of machines before showing up and provides discounts. This is now our go-to location. The price might be a little higher than in other places, but the efficiency of the machines, especially the dryers, means you're not spending money for multiple spins. They also have a coffee machine, and there is a local cafe a few doors down. Thank you, Victor and Angela for making us feel welcomed.
