The concept was very different but much better than the US. You ARE able to use bills and coins. It took me a while to see where the bills are dispensed. But don't go to REWE across the street for coins. It is neither necessary nor appreciated (meaning they didn't like giving me all their coins). There's also a detergent and softener dispenser if needed. I love this idea and don't understand why the US hasn't figured this out. This facility is super clean, quiet and equipped with a coffee machine.

A correct translation into German of laundrette is Waschsalon. This business seems to be very efficiently organised and service is very friendly and helpful. Dry cleaning takes place within its own premises whilst laundering is carried out in Oberkochen, a few kilometers away from Heidenheim. Apparantly there was a Laundrette in Heideheim a few years ago but the business failed due to lack of custom.
