I had lunch here a few times while working in the area. The 1st 2 times, I got the chicken katsu curry, and the 3rd time I got the chirashi salad. I ate in twice. I also tried a few of the snacks, including the cookies & cream Pepero sticks, the chocolate dorayaki, and the salmon rice ball. Everything I got tasted great, and was pretty reasonably priced given it was Japanese food.
This location gets pretty busy from 12:30 on; it was fairly empty the 1 time I arrived at noon. The chicken katsu curry seems especially popular; there were a lot of people loitering around the hot foods area the 1st time I had lunch here, and they were all waiting for the chicken katsu curry bowls to be restocked. I didn't have to wait long to get one, however, and it was nice that it was piping hot since it had been freshly restocked. The chirashi salad had a generous amount of fish, rice, and salad; understandably it was 1 of the more expensive items. The salmon rice ball was really tasty, although I couldn't remove the wrapping without the seaweed coming off as well (but this didn't really detract from the taste at least). The Pepero sticks and dorayaki were fine, although it's hard to mess up dessert snacks and I probably wouldn't leap to buy them again; I mostly got the dorayaki because I'd only ever seen them in YouTube videos previously.
There's plenty of sushi and hot food options; you can also mix and match individual sushi and sushi rolls. Even though I came at prime lunch hour both times I ate in, I never had much trouble finding a seat. You're meant to bus your own trays after you're finished, and the tables are generally pretty clean. Check-out is efficient and all the staff I've encountered have been friendly and polite. I've never had trouble paying with my American bank card.
A solid place for a quick, tasty, and filling lunch if you're working in the area. The location is just a short walk from the Monument tube station. read more
