Actually the very first state financed public library, Warrington's main library is still in the same building as when first opened.
Apart from the obvious many books for reference and for borrowing, the Museum Street, main library also houses a huge number of civic records, collections of documents and photographs and copies of many items of importance and interest to local historians.
For members of the Cheshire Libraries Service, there is access to many fascinating and original documents, with facilities for photocopying many - invaluable to amateur and professional historians, and also to artists seeking unusual stimuli for paintings and drawings (like myself).
Also available are the usual reading books, dvd's, cd's, vhs films etc. and access to the internet through a large, well-equipped computer suite.
There are also collections of booklets and pamphlets on events in the local and wider area, with regular displays pertaining to these events. read more
