I was walking through Downtown Brooklyn with my friend and we decided to check out Smith Street because we knew we would find great food. We came across Wanisa Home Kitchen and my friend wanted to go in because she liked the interior. The host was very very kind, but it took a long while before anyone came to our table and an even longer time just to get our drinks. It was a Sunday evening and it wasn't that crowded. My friend ordered the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and I ordered the Prik Khing with vegetables. The food came and it was a large portion. I loved the spiciness and flavor of the dish. Overall, the food was pretty good, with lot of flavor. Not sure if I would travel from Williamsburg, Bk to Cobble Hill, Bk just to eat here, but maybe if I were in the neighborhood, I would come here for lunch. read more

In the spirit of our lazy day after Christmas we ordered a delivery meal in. Found Wanisa not too far from us and so happy we did. The green curry was rich in flavor, deliciously oily and SPICY! If you love spice like we do, this restaurant does not play. The heat was from firecrackers of thai chili and I think I even saw specs of habanero. The pad kee mao was also super tasty. Soft brown noodles with a generous amount of bell peppers and beef. The flavors here are well balanced and they use quality ingredients. Hope to visit the restaurant when indoor dining opens up but till then we will continue to enjoy it in our home. read more

Ordered via UberEATS. Wanisa provides their own delivery people so you can't track where the food is when it's on the way. Makes the hand off a little stressful but SO WORTH IT! We were worried it was going to be cold but it wasn't at all! We ordered: - Roti and curry (so yummy!) - BBQ Pork & sticky rice (must have!) - Pad See Ew with duck (solid, duck not super special so maybe try a different protein) - Fried Egg Rolls (solid) A note about the sticky rice is that it dries out easily, but it's SO GOOD. Definitely not the regular rice that I eat. Sort of has a gummy texture (reminded me of mochi or something?) that was so so so good. Just be warned that it dries out quickly but is still good regardless. Every dish was really flavorful and exactly what you want at a Thai restaurant. Solid local staple that I'm so thankful to live near! Excited to try one of the specials or something spicy next time! Roaming around the area looking for a reasonable sitdown-spot. Tuesday night and almost no one inside; menu looked good and the ratings were solid. Immediately got seated and our friendly waitress quickly handed us menus. Mostly your basic Thai fare, however lots of options to choose from. Decided on the Red Curry with Vegetables ($10) and a Hot Sake ($9). The sake comes out first in an 8oz white vase and small serving cup. Drink is flavorful but not too strong so I didn't get tipsy before the meal. Red curry comes shortly after - a medium-sized bowl of hearty broth with an assortment of veggies swimming inside. This is served with a small mound of white rice (though I just stuck with the curry). Felt the veggies were cooked nicely, as the meal was overall balanced. Also got to try the Sauteed veggie duck; amazing flavor that needed no accompaniment. Really liked the service here, as our waitress came to check up on us without being invasive. I chose to get some pad thai delivered on a lazy night from here (among all the random thai restos out there) because I was first impressed by how the owners responded to almost all the reviews. I thought that really shows how hard they are working for their place! Ordered pad thai (tofu) and massaman curry (chicken) Came quick, fresh, and hot! Really flavorful, spicy (I chose the spiciest and it is a good amount of spice if you like spicy) and lots of meats!! Really good amount of serving. The chive dumpling though is soft, soggy, and extremely greasy. I felt like I was biting into a sponge that has been soaked in oil. We had a meeting party in this place last week, we got a lot of foods. We ordered and shared the foods to each other in order for us to try many things. I like the cashew nut dish and chicken fried rice the most. The cashew nut dish was very full of tastes but only thing, it was hard to take it from the dish so we decided to put it down from the bowl. (It was hard to explain but once you ordered, do it like us ^^) Chicken Fried rice wasn't enough for all of us, yes it was double ordered that i tried. I like soft rice but i dont like the oily fried rice and it was the good one from this restaurant. In an area full of Thai restaurants, I have to say this spot is solid. They have quite a big menu and items that some typical Thai restaurants don't offer. On a Friday night the restaurant seated us right away. We started with calamari, crispy chive pancake or dumpling and shrimp spring rolls. I could've done without the calamari But really enjoyed the chive and shrimp spring roll. The chive dumpling is definitely interesting, it's probably made with a type of rice flour to give it a sticky texture. It's kind of like a savory mochi, I've also had this at Kor Tor Mor before too. This dish is worth trying if you want to try something different. My boyfriend had the drunken noodles with beef and I got curry beef soup noodles. You can choose which curry to use for their soup and I chose their green curry. I love that they offer noodle soups here which I'm always a fan of. They use rice noodles, similar or the same as the noodles you'd get for pad Thai. This noodle soup was packed with food. Lots of bamboo, peppers, and a good amount of beef. I really enjoyed this. It was a bit on the spicier side for me. The only complaint is that their beef was too overcooked for me, leaving it on the dryer side. My boyfriend enjoyed his drunken noodle as well, also spicy enough for his liking. The Thai tea was also pretty solid, not overly sweet. The waitress and waiters were pretty attentive, filling our waters and checking in on us pretty frequently. read more

Second part is either veggie spring roll or tiny chicken wontons. For main course we liked the pad kee mao tofu drunken noodle which isn't really spicy but is nicely crunchy without being greasy. Lunch is a smaller portion, so one person could probably eat all that, or make it a light meal to share, as we did. The lychee juice is great; the lychee iced tea is waaaaaay too sweet but at least it has actual lychees. The Pad Thai was absolutely delicious- perhaps the best Pad Thai I've ever had. The Pad Thai here dethroned my previous favorite pad thai. There's nothing I would have changed about it. Perfect noodle texture, ratios, flavors, sauciness, etc. So good! I came here on a date night with my husband and it was lovely. Not loud at all, nice ambiance, windows open on a nice night, candles lit. We also ordered a lychee mojito, calamari, crispy pork belly with crispy basil, pineapple fried rice, and the WK Thai tea float. The mojito was pretty good, the calamari was very good, my husband says the pineapple rice was very good but not a lot of pineapple, and we thought the pork belly was just ok. Texture wasn't that great for us. The veggies in it were good. The WK Thai float was fantastic - YUM!!! Would order that again in a heartbeat! We split one and it was a perfect size for splitting if you're a little full at the end of the meal. All in all great experience, will definitely be back! read more

This is my 2nd time coming back and it was worth the trip! I was craving Thai food so my boyfriend and I stopped in. It was a few guests but not crazy! Nice ambience, wooden furniture, cool air! If I lived in the area I probably would come here all the time! The staff are so friendly and I love the atmosphere of the place. The bathrooms are also very clean which is a huge plus for me. I came here a couple of times for lunch and I almost always ordered the Thai Iced Tea with every meal and sometimes doubled ordered lol. (It's my weakness) I believe I ordered a stir fry once which was very, very good. I love full flavor dishes! On my next visits I ordered the Crispy Orange Chicken Chunks omg. Just ordered from Wanisa for the first time and it was delicious. I'm in Prospect Heights so I was nervous about delivery time from Cobble Hill, but it was surprisingly quick. We ordered pad thai and drunken noodles - noodle dishes were fluffy and yummy. We chose medium spicy for the drunken noodles and they were impressively spicy. Our local go to take out thai, we order from here everytime we crave thai. Usually order beef sirloin pad thai, vegetable tom yum and their special crispy pork basil stir fry. Delicious food considering it is take out, the food arrives hot and delivery is fast. Only thing is with the crispy pork dish I wish for is a bit more meat, it's one of my favorite meals but had just a tad too much vege. I was hungry for Tom Kha Gai, summer rolls, and Sticky rice. (Lunch time)No summer rolls just spring rolls so I opted for the Shrimp rolls which I was a little disappointed in...just Shrimp wrapped in wonton fried with light Chilli sauce. Should of saved the 2 buck and went with the spring rolls. The Tom Kha was...ehh. onions, button mushrooms, chicken and on my last bite I found a tiny piece of Lemongrass. Broth has no complexity and little depth. Sticky rice was excellent. The staff was very pleasant. I am glad I came and prices are pretty standard for the area I think. Honestly not sure how this restaurant has stayed open in this neighborhood for so long. Went in for late lunch and ordered curry puffs and ginger pork and instead of ginger pork I got garlic pork - which normally would totally be fine, especially since the server immediately swapped out the incorrect order for the correct one. The reason why I'm giving the restaurant 2 stars is that the food is inedible. The curry puffs ($6 for 2) looked pretty but the puff pastry was bready and greasy and the puffs left a strange coating in my mouth after eating. The flavor of the dipping sauce was very off - there's no palm sugar or fish sauce in it. Both the garlic pork and the ginger pork were bland and terrible and super salty. Both dishes were just kind of doused in cheap/fake soy sauce. I ended up ordering an extra pad thai because I couldn't eat the ginger pork dish. The shrimp was nicely cooked on the pad thai, but the pad thai itself was flavorless yet somehow salty and heavy. I felt kind of sick after this meal - not like a food poisoning sick but very nauseated and brain-foggy - even though I only had 3 pieces of pork and maybe a quarter of the pad thai. For the mistake she made, our server brought us 2 thai ice teas. My friend and I are not really caffeine drinkers after noontime and this was at 4pm, so unfortunately we were unable to appreciate their gesture, but it was nice that they tried to make it up to us. The service was friendly and therefore I'm giving it two stars, but unfortunately I'm left wondering how it's even possible to make food that gross and how anyone can eat food made by this restaurant. read more

Was in the neighborhood for some drinks and needed some takeout to bring home for dinner. Decided on Wanisa and so glad I did. Food is amazing here. Had pad thai, pad see eu, and yello curry. Each dish was very tasty, freshly made, and not too salty/buttery. So many thai places taste cheap and make you feel gross after because they use bad ingredients and overalt and oversugar their food. He asked if we still wanted it and we said yes, he said he would tell the kitchen to make it quick. It was a disappointment. A triangle mountain of rice with beef, and green beans that weren't fully cooked, with a small amount of curry. I wasn't sure about the beans because maybe that's how it's supposed to be? FYI beef surcharge of $2 on bill. We quickly ate and left. We mutually agreed that we should have stopped with the drunken noodles. Bathrooms were clean, have individual male and female bathrooms.
