For what this place is, it's good. If you want a cheap & simple kbbq, this is a place for you. SUPER limited meats for the cheaper menu, and if you pay like $2 more, you get an additional 2 or so choices. If you go to kbbq and pretty much only end up getting brisket and pork belly, come here. I'm personally someone who gets everything except plain ol' brisket and pork belly, so I just found this place very bland and boring. I do have to give them credit though, their service is VERY fast. Felt like my table always had meat on our table and we were never left waiting for meat. Meat quality is also pretty decent considering you're paying AYCE for like 20.99. Would I come back? My family and I have been coming here for years. This has been our go-to spot for a long, long time until tonight. Keeping in mind that we are long-time customers, we saw the staff change over the pandemic/lockdown and let me tell you, they did not fill the shoes of the original staff. My family and I were celebrating our mom's 45th birthday and waited a little over an hour to be seated. We know this is something all kbbqs have especially on a Friday night, so we waited with no complaints. We love the food, so we knew it was worth waiting for. However, after being seated we were a little shocked to see our second table (they brought out another table due to our large-ish party of 6 and poorly connected it to the first table) with a huge pothole (see photos; in the pictures you see the grill over the dent; this is due to the fact we thought about sucking it up and swapping the tableware with the grill for a hot minute). All of our tableware was sliding towards the bottom of the pit and we figured that this is a terrible way to eat and proceeded to take our concern to the nearest associate. We weren't upset. We just wanted our table swapped out. They told us they had other customers and other tables to fill and couldn't replace our table. We asked to speak to their manager who told us the same thing without any further consideration, no hesitation. This may seem like a trivial issue to some, but please take into consideration the possibility of the grill sliding and spilling hot oil all over my family. There is also the issue of other customers having priority over us--we are also people who are also customers. Why are we, who waited over an hour, exclusively being forced to use a hazardous table? Can't the other parties wait just as we waited? Why could we not be accomodated? I doubt anyone would want to eat on a dented table and have their food sliding down. In a way, it explains why said table was put away and not out on the dining floor in the first place. Yes, they have masks. Nice and safe. But grill over a major dent that could possibly slide and burn people? Not safe. But they don't care. No accomodations. No accountability. Loyalty apparently means nothing, too. We had to ask the waiter 2 times for pork and 3 times for kimchi and never received the kimchi. Instead he was busy talking with friends and fist bumping various customers. He would check up on his friends and pretty much no one else. He didn't wear a mask unlike all his other colleagues too. Haven't been here in a many many years. For the area it's open late. They made it much better over the years. You get what you pay for. It's not the highest quality meat but it's not expensive. They give you kimchi and garlic. The garlic was full of heat. I didn't care for the kimchi as much. A little too sour for me. The service was excellent. They take care of their customers. To be honest I was mixed between giving it two stars or three stars from the get-go. We show up and the guy setting up our table I was rude asking us questions but in a manner that obviously gave us the understanding that he was having a bad day or he just slacks customer service skills. Our friends were running late and ended up showing up after we were finally seated but only after the good thing main server denied seating us because half of our party was running eight minutes late... the first thing I noticed was that the "back house" music is also the "front house" music, so I guess it was mariachi music the whole time?!... yea pretty much... Seat us, serve us, and charge the group separately... don't give us attitude if people are running late. The place is all you can eat, serves three different types of meat, rice, salad and some sauce to dip your meat into. Not bad for $20.99 in 2021. Having the guy ask us if we wanted rice after telling him no a dozen times just made us feel like he was having a bad day and just wanted to mess with us.... He would also also shove things into our hands when he would bring us food. The food was pretty decent, however the service, grill design, and atmosphere ruined the experience completely. Starting with service, I had no idea to which waiter was ours, as well as the waiter never bringing me what I ordered. It was only later when I asked another waiter for what I wanted that it came. Something as simple as napkins couldn't be brought to me. I find it however that it's not all the servers, but I assume just one or so, I'm not sure. I just know that most of the night I didn't have what I wanted. The waiter we had the most of night never really even talked and had just mumbled, just refilling our water. I was very disappointed in the service. Going on to grill design, you look at it into the beginning and think "oh this is interesting" however the grease gets caught in the edges and begins to pop. The grease splashes on to you constantly and hurts like a bitch. That annoyed me a lot into the night as well. I've been to many korean barbecues with the same type of grill actually, however they had much more convenient ways of disposing the grease. Finally the atmosphere doesn't give you the vibe you're even at a korean barbecue. Walking into there I get the vibe I'm in some deli shop. I never saw a Korean nor asian employee. I've been coming here for years and tonight left an absolutely bad taste in my mouth. This is our go to for affordable and somewhat quick kbbq. Wait times happen, no big deal. But tonight I was completely thrown off. My group was a party of six. The servers are quick with the meat and it's just like a regular time. Only difference tonight is how the server handled the bill. I go up to pay for the whole group to avoid any confusion in splitting the bill. I see the amount, and just put in the suggested gratuity(more than 15%) and go on my way. I head to the bathroom to wash my hands and one of the servers calls me to talk to him in the hallway. Asks if I split the bill with anyone because he believes it's short. I show him my receipt and I ask him if there's a problem. He points at my tip and says "it's easier for us with cash". I tell him I already left a tip and don't carry cash. He looks disappointed so I ask him what the matter was. He stares at me blankly and I can tell he's upset but he tells me "nevermind" and walks away. I was thrown off but didn't think much of it. Later I review my receipt and I discover there already was a service charge added to my total. I'm not upset with that, it makes sense for a big group. I added additional tip over that service charge, no big deal. I'm upset that the server had the audacity to even come up to me and bring my tip up like it was even an issue. Ridiculous. read more

I give this place and extra star simply because they are open past midnight on weekdays. This means Yummy Korean style BBQ long after work and school, deep into the night. A very cool find, as every other Korean place in the area closes at ten at the latest. Apart from the night offering kudo, I would probably give this place one or even two less stars, not because it is bad (it is actually very good for what it is) but because the restaurant offers zero banchans apart from a very hot but delicious deep red Kimchee. Yes, the salad is amazing, but it is NOT a banchan. Yes, they give an abundance of raw sliced onion for grilling (which was great), but Onions are not banchan. Yes, they plop down a dish of peeled garlic and cut jalapenos, but these are not a banchan. So, do NOT expect any of the typical Korean vegie sides that makes Korean BBQ such a winning experience. Here even an urn of Korean style bean curd soup or a bowl of rice costs extra. This place is ALL about the meat. The meat, and the onions. And most of the meat is unseasoned. It is just plain brisket, or just plain pork belly, or just plain beef slices. You really need the salt and pepper oil to give things any flavor. The meat is sliced super thick as well, so it is chewy and bland, unless you spruce it up yourself with the onions, the garlic, and then douse it generously in sesame oil and soy sauce. So when grilling here you are not just grilling, you are actually being a chef, adding flavor, and seasoning food. Also, the portions of meat are huge, and even though I asked please for a half portion of each meat - because there was just two of us and we wanted to try everything - our first three meat portions were more than enough to stuff us both before we even got to the spicy pork or the marinated beef. Still, we hid and overcooked the early food (tricks to keep them from charging for leftovers) so we had room to get a portion of the marinated stuff. The marinated meat was better than the plain meat. At least it had good flavor. But again, it was cut way too thick. The problem with thickness in this case is that the meat is tough, and so the only way to really enjoy it is to pop it on the grill for 10 seconds and then eat it just north of raw. You can do this with a really thin cut (like a shabu shabu level slice), but with a thick piece, you are actually eating raw meat. In the end, I ate my pork almost totally raw just to keep it chewable. And it was delicious and tender, almost raw... but also dangerous. The way to solve this was to eat very slowly so one didn't fill up too fast, and to spend a lot of time seasoning ones own food, and experimenting with how to cook it - just enough but not too much. It was a high maintenance meal for me, but I still enjoyed it. Here is an interesting thing about the place. There was not a single Asian face anywhere: neither among the staff nor the customers. That is why I keep using the term "Korean style" as opposed to actual Korean. This is NOT a Korean restaurant. This is a Korean Style restaurant. And if it were in Fargo North Dakota, it would be the most popular place in town, and a true adventure into Korean Style dining. But in LA, it is an anomaly . However, if you find yourself in Resida at 1 AM and you want an AYCE Korean (style) BBQ for under 20 buck each, this may very well be the best place to go, if not the only place. I will come here again, when I am desperate and in the area late at night. But next time, I will bring my own banchan and some gochujang from a Korean market in K-Town. And I will come with four to six people instead of two, so we can get a greater variety. Plus I will plan on spending an extra 7 bucks on soup, rice, and custard, to get the full experience. Two more quick things, one very cool and interesting, and one quite funny The cool and interesting is that we were here on a Monday night at 11 PM, and there was a line waiting for tables. When we left at almost one, there was still a line. Not one Asian in the line, but it was still a big line. This means something good for the place. Now the funny thing. The parking lot is like nothing I have ever seen anywhere outside of Egypt or Bulgaria. Almost every car was parked outside of its parking space borders. Some even parked almost sideways in their spaces. And one mis-parked car led to another, so that by the time we found a space, we too had to park almost sideways just to fit. It was the most chaotic parking lot I have ever seen in America. And we even saw, while waiting, an SUV pulling in to park in a spot that had two fully empty spaces, with plenty of room to park correctly, and the SUV still parked almost sideways, taking up both spaces. It was as if the parking lot had a gremlin watching over it, who made sure that the chaos would continue, even if it didn't have to. My daughter and I laughed and laughed, in our wait-line, as we watched car after car park chaotically. It was very funny. read more

I love AYCE KBBQ! We walked in on a Saturday night and luckily there wasn't much of a wait as we were immediately seated. I forgot if there were different tiers, but we got the brisket/pork belly menu (around $12-13). I kind of wish there were more options on the menu but brisket is still just as delicious! If you want a steamed egg pot, it costs extra (around $2), which I thought was kind of bummer since I'm used to it being on the AYCE menu back in the OC. But the steamed egg pot was full to the brim of the pot though! So it was worth the money. Wish it had more seasoning though. But other than that, the meat quality is decent. If you want rice, you'll need to pay extra. I was looking around for some rice paper, but this place doesn't serve it. Mini tears. They offer you salad to fill you up, and that tasted good. The soybean paste that they offer was standard at best, but a bit watered down as what I am used to. However, despite those setbacks, the food was pretty delicious. Service is friendly as they were able to keep me happy with the extra soybean paste and extra raw garlic. Overall, the bill came out pretty standard to what you normally pay for AYCE KBBQ.
