I felt the amount requested for preparing a simple probate petition was excessive, and even the judge agreed the fee should be reduced. As a parent trying to protect my daughter's inheritance, it was upsetting to feel as though her estate was being depleted by unnecessary legal costs. Our original attorney, Kevin Childress, stated he was overloaded with cases and transferred us to Mr. Underwood. When I expressed concerns about the fees, it was implied that I was seeking free services, which was never the case. I simply wanted fair and reasonable representation. After receiving payment from my daughter's estate on two separate occasions, Mr. Underwood later chose to withdraw from representing us. Attempts to communicate directly were unsuccessful, and I was instead referred to another attorney, Danielle Woods. Overall, this experience left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. When only she had been notified of the hearing because when I updated my email address and told her I no longer used the old email, she failed to do anything with it. So my notice went to the old email. She received notice however, and chose not to represent me or even let me know of the hearing. After I fired her, she refused to hand over my file as required by law. Only after I contacted another attorney at her firm to let them know what she was doing, did I finally receive my file. Even then, it wasn't my complete file. Pretty much the only thing Mary knows how to do is to bill you for hours that she spent colluding with opposing counsel in a wink wink agreement. I could not recommend anyone less than I do her. Unethical, at best.

My case was very simple and she dragged it out for over a year then demanded more money to continue representing me. I later found out that she had never eve looked at the original court documents which would have allowed me to get remedy relatively easily and quickly. I wish I had done a simple google search and not gone by verbal recommendation. She scammed me out of $6k and did nothing on my case other than show up late for an eviction hearing then ran out of the court room without explaination. Then she sent me a letter demanding more money to "continue representing me". She is triffling. For someone with purportedly 20+ years in the industry, she could have wrapped up my case in less time than it took her to lie and pretend to be working on it. I believe she has schemed her way through life and never really learned law, but instead learned to be a very good liar.
