My daughter was in Lux a year ago with her university and she invited us out to her favorite watering hole, Walzstroos. It was near thanksgiving and it was so cold and seasonal, we were hoping to find a warm and welcoming place like this.
First being from the states I am not really used to service professionals or not tipping. These bartenders knew every student by name and drink. It was wild too; you can just walk behind the bar if you want. But these bartenders explained to me that this is their career, you do not need to tip them at all, they are professionals. I got it.
I have been drinking Guinness for years and never knew about the split the G; apparently I am good at it! The drinks were tasty but I am not fond of Aperol. What made me happy was that the bartenders took ownership and pride in their bar. They made folks feel welcome and were respectful. If you are even in Luxembourg stop in for a pint! read more
