1-Star Review Our…read moreexperience with Mai Vang at Johnson & Taylor in Salem, Oregon was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, deeply unprofessional. I would not recommend her as an attorney. I was a young single mother for 8 years, and Ms. Vang represented me for approximately ten months in a case involving custody, parenting time, and child support. During this time, the children's father had gone as long as eight months without seeing the children, and prior to that his involvement was extremely limited--at most two hours per week. Despite this history, I was repeatedly told that I had no realistic options other than agreeing to a 50/50 parenting plan by Ms. Vang. She was a big push over during hearings allowing opposing counsel to make the narrative they wanted without objection. Given the significant history of abuse that both my child and I experienced, I requested multiple safety provisions to be included in the temporary parenting plan. I knew Ms. Vang is fresh out of college and chose to give her an opportunity as she assured that she had significant experience with high conflict cases and cases involving narcissistic counterparts. None of those requests were meaningfully considered or incorporated into the temporary parenting plan. I did not feel advocated for, supported, or protected. I felt pressured into agreements that did not reflect the reality of our situation or prioritize my child's safety. Without consulting me, Mai Vang scheduled a trial date after a hearing with the judge and opposing counsel. Then, just four weeks before trial, she chose to withdraw from my case after I expressed a desire to work with a professional experienced in creating parenting plans for high-conflict cases in preparation of the trial she scheduled after my disappointed with her work in the past 10 months. I was left completely on my own, four weeks before trial, to navigate an extremely complex and emotionally charged situation. In my opinion, this was highly unprofessional. I spent thousands of dollars on retaining her and keeping her as my attorney for her to leave me hanging even after providing the worst service ever. She also proceeded with hearings she was unprepared for. She showed up to the court room with ungroomed hair and an unprofessional look with three natural grocers totes full of paperwork. She didn't measure up to opposing counsel. Evidence I had provided was either not submitted correctly or dismissed because it did not meet evidentiary requirements. I was never informed that the evidence I submitted needed to be in certain formats to be accepted she should have done her due diligence and requested the correct court accepted formats. Nor were my witnesses adequately contacted or prepared. In one instance, the judge indicated he would likely approve a no-contact order but not the stalking order as submitted. Despite this guidance, Ms. Vang proceeded in a manner that did not reflect the judge's feedback and failed to present critical evidence effectively. After later consulting with another law firm, I was told that going from zero parenting time to 50/50 parenting time is unheard of. Then withdrawing from a case so close to trial and failing to prepare evidence in this way was highly unprofessional. Overall, I felt misled, unsupported, and poorly represented. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this attorney to anyone involved in a high-conflict custody case or who needs strong, prepared, and proactive advocacy.

I was introduced to Todd Hammond through a fellow veteran. I was struggling with VA getting my…read moreclaims right and understanding the process. I have a law degree, but don't practice. I still haven't figured the VA system out if that tells you anything. I was also getting jerked around by Social Security as a 100% P&T veteran with SMC ratings as well which were affective before my last insured date. Todd Hammond has been amazing at helping navigate this system, getting my claims corrected, taking on SSA and helping me with other legal matters dealing with military related issues. Todd has a way of making your evidence gathering almost therapeutic. I would recommend Todd Hammond to any veteran or civilian looking to make sure the VA and SSA don't postpone your benefits costing you benefits you paid into and have earned through service or employment. The government treats disabled people worse like they are enemies, and the system is beyond broken and corrupt. You need an attorney and Todd is the one. Please do yourself a favor and contact Todd Hammond today and save yourself the feelings of betrayal by the government, frustration, pain, financial hardship and other dehumanizing behavior at the hands of our disability system and federal government.

Todd was warm and friendly and offered a direct assessment of my case. Even with overwhelming medical records supporting a disability claim, some people win benefits, and some don't. It's a flawed and subjective system, but Todd fought for me every step of the way and helped me win my benefits. I couldn't ask for a better attorney to stand with me. Now it's 2022, and I received a letter from the SSA saying it needs to review my medical records to determine if I'm still disabled. I hadn't contacted Todd for years, but he responded to my email within minutes and answered my questions regarding the letter. Based on my experiences and his track record, I recommend using Todd Hammond as your disability attorney.

I can't speak to the quality of the attorney himself, since he chose not to take my case…read more My disappointment is mostly in the lack of communication. I had my intake phone call on Wednesday 1/31 & was told that I would hear back before Friday 2/2. Nobody called, nor did they email. I emailed them on Tuesday 2/6 to inquire since I still hadn't heard back. They finally responded on Thursday 2/8 saying they won't represent me. I would've been looking for someone else if they had told me sooner, or at least kept their word about when they would reach out to me... instead they wasted my time! Also, the email reply was confusing, to say the least, citing specific statutes like the ORS number and other legal jargon that the typical layman wouldn't know. I replied because I thought maybe we had a misunderstanding in my timeline & I wanted to clarify, wondering if that could make a difference in whether or not they'd take my case. The email I received back was rude and condescending. I still don't understand the "legalese" of what they mentioned, but I dare not ask them! They should actually call people when they say they will! That alone would have made a huge difference in my feelings towards them & had they actually contacted me in a timely manner, I wouldn't have posted this review. Another point that they should take note of is that maybe they shouldn't expect everyone to know all of the legal jargon that they do. If I were an expert at that, I probably wouldn't need their representation in the first place.
