Now, he doesn't do it all by himself. Oh no. They ladies that work there are awesome. And most of them have been there for years and years. It truly is the only place i can go to where they actually recognize me and ask after the rest of my family. I know other docs working with Dr. Hein have come and go, but he's truly the best. He's pretty matter of fact and will take the time to explain things IF YOU ASK. Otherwise, if you don't, he'll give you what you need and send you on your way. Always ask questions.

They said I had to do both. Gave them my vision and medical insurance cards. Dr was nice and glasses were reasonably price. Next exam was a month away. The day before they called and said that someone marked down I was self pay. Um no. Oh we need your insurance. No you have it and when I was in a photo of it was taken. Oh must be we are out of network then and I would have to pay the entire cost out of pocket as they wouldn't do the paperwork for me to get reimbursed. By this time wasn't going to argue so I just told her to cancel the appointment. She said ok and hung up. Went elsewhere with no issue at all. I went somewhere else and was able to get just a diabetic eye exam with no proof that I had a regular eye exam. They wasted my time. I have since dropped the vision insurance. Since I know now both eye exams are not required like this told me they were, I will go elsewhere.

Parking lot is shared by a few restaurants and a faster option with Jimmy Johns. I have never found an issue parking here. Scheduling your eye exam is very easy. Unlike some places, I have never had an issue with calling and they have always picked up the phone. The building inside is very clean and they have plenty of options to pick from. I usually like sticking with Oakleys and they stock plenty of brands. One thing that I love about this place (which I haven't experienced from other locations) is that they are very clear about what my insurance covers and if any discounts from insurance I will get... ahead of time. From my years of coming here, all the staff are very friendly and accommodating. During my exam, they let me know what is covered under my insurance and if I have the options for further testing (which may or may not be covered). However, they do not push for these tests if you say no. The doctor here is also very friendly. He makes you feel like you are family that you haven't seen in a long time. He does not make you feel pressured nor does he pushes for any extra services or tests. Once I was finished with my exam, I brought the script to the front again, and I was free to pick out my glasses. Then they will sit you down, ask if you want any other upgrades if you wanted. Again, I like how they do not push anything extra. If you want basic and low cost, they have no issues... if you want to call all out, they will do that for you as well. I like how this place does give you text messages. They will remind you when your appointment is coming up, and if/when your glasses/contacts arrive.

(wont go into details as to why, because it would compromise the privacy of my neighbor.) I called to make an appointment with Dr. Black, which was confirmed. Unfortuantely, two days before my appt., I discovered I had to go out of town on business, and would not be able to make my appt. I called to reschedule with Dr. Black, which they did with no issue. They proceeded to make another appt. without even telling me they had made one. I get a text the day before the rescheduled appt. (again, which I did not even make!) and I called again to inform them I never made that appointment, and would not be able to make it. I then suggested we schedule for a Saturday, so that there would be no work or other interferences with the appt. time. She happily scheduled me for two weeks out on a Saturday. Less than FIVE minutes after she scheduled, she called me back and said, "I'm sorry. The other gal who made the appointment wasn't aware that Dr. Black is not longer accepting patients." IT WAS THE EXACT SAME PERSON WHO HAD SPOKEN TO ME NOT LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES AGO...yet she is trying to pretend I spoke with someone else. (I can recognize a voice.) So...how is it that appointments were made THREE TIMES with Dr. Black (one without my knowledge or permission, mind you), yet the good doc suddenly and mysteriously becomes "unavailable" because he is "not accepting new patients"? I checked the website. Doc Black IS, in fact, still accepting new patients. No mention on the website that he is not. I emailed back to inform them that I knew something was fishy here, and that Dr. Black has no mention on his website that he is no longer taking new patients. I waited a week with writing this review to see if his website would be updated. I has not been: He is still taking on new patients. This place is a "fustercluck." I talked with my neighbor about this, and she said she had referred others to him, and he took them on--at the same time I tried to schedule. However, she *did* acknowledge that the office can be "unprofessional" and "disjointed" at times. She also said she has had some minor issues in the past with the people at the front desk getting insurance information wrong. As she put it, "They're pretty immature and like little high school giggle girls, but the doc is excellent. So, I put up with the immaturity of the rest of the staff." But she also added she's embarrassed she recommended him, based on how I was treated.

When my…read morenewest Rx just didn't seem right, he sent me to a specialist because he was concerned I had cataracts. I did. After both surgeries, I was able to get the perfect pair of glasses. This summer, I went back for Rx sunglasses, and I had another wonderful experience. The staff is patient and makes good suggestions. Since my lenses are blended, the first effort didn't fit my personal needs, and Mia couldn't have been nicer when I went in for an adjustment. The turnaround time for each pair was quicker than I expected. I now own two wonderful pairs of glasses from Oxie, and I hope to go back from one more. Since I'm writing this during the pandemic, I also have to applaud them on their safety measures. Limiting customers in the store, mask wearing, and cleaning everything made me feel comfortable and safe. I recommend Oxie!
