Overcharged for an item that wasn't even in my basket at all.
    Rosa F.

Today I visit this store as I had a Dr's appointment close to it and I didn't want to go all the way to Gladstone and then back home. I was overcharged by the cashier for a bag of fish I didn't even get. She got all the thing I had an I did buy a 2lb bag of tilapia .. but she went ahead and charged a FZ tilapia for $16.97 I should have been more careful as a lady in front of me was overcharged by the guy next to us, who happened to to be a manager. I live by DT KCMO and I went to that store since it was so close to my Dr. I wanted to save me some trip time .. now they asked me to go back to see my receipt .. not sure that I will but BEWARE... if it happened to me and the lady right before me ( next register ), which we both happened to be Hispanics, I can just imagine how much extra money they are stealing from Customers that don't stop to check their receipt right after paying . It's sad to think that in the time I was there I saw a LOT of seniors .. and if they live in a fixed income and they get ripped off like at least 2 of us were within 10 minutes on 2 different registers ( one where the manager James was ), lots of ppl are being stiffed.

This guy at Wal-Mart; closed down Customer Sevice and walked away from Customers. What a dick!

The place…read morewhere you walk in and lose yourself for a few hours wondering around to different departments, up and down the escalator and in each place encountering a dressed up sales person ready to help you in any way. I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. Go visit this MidWest (established in Iowa) department store! I know I'll be going back and hopefully update with some pics!

Sometime around the year 2000 I feel like department stores in general sort of started turning downhill and no longer had the pizazz they used to carry in the 90s, Nordstrom however, seemed to move with the times and remain classy and elegant. I always loved coming here to go back to school shopping back in the early 2000s and honestly I'm happy to report that not a lot has changed (in a good way). This is still the best place to park and walk into Oak Park Mall, hands down. Nordstrom is still pristine, clean, and has this really nice scent to it? I don't know if that's nostalgia playing games on me from my HS days but it just feels nice to shop here. On the day I walked in recently I was on a mission to visit H&M to pick up some back to school staples for my 1st grader, but thought I'd check out the kids section here first just in case there was a steal on some mini boden or something. Their kids area is packed with adorable clothes, and while I did see some decent deals on the sale rack everything was a bit pricey for my regular back to school haul so I continued on to H&M. All that being said though, I still enjoyed shopping here and seeing what they had. It had been a long time since I'd taken the time to peruse at Nordstrom and I'll be back - it's still probably the best department store in the metro!

My go-to section is always the shoes, as all guests are courteous of each other within the small aisles and the deals are unbeatable. For example, I found these OC sneakers that are never on sale! They have a good selection of Sam Edelman and Jeffrey Campbell, which is surprising as those are recent bestsellers at Nordstrom's and typically wouldn't get passed down to clearance. Though I've been coming to this location for years, the employee I spoke to really motivated me to write this. The kindest older woman checked me out, immediately curious about my purchase because she needed shoe recommendations. It felt like she genuinely cared about my opinion and was happy to have a conversation. In retail, you know this is far and few. She assured me about the return policy when I asked about it and helped me quickly locate my rewards. I unfortunately cannot remember her name, but if it helps, she said she has an upcoming knee surgery, which I wished her the best on her recovery. She made my night.

I did not grow up shopping at target weekly so it is definitely a different experience than walmart. First of all, this target is clean!!! There are not random items laying around, nothing on the floor, and good organization overall. I like this target because they have a lot of clearance items on food/pastries/hygiene/cleaning products. The clearance signs are easy to find and include good everyday products. The app doesn't always align with the price given, so i appreciate the price scanners located in the store. I do not interact with a ton of the employees because I usually do self checkout but the employees at self checkout are always kind. They have a lot of workers!! Sometimes there is a worker on almost every aisle restocking things. The prices are reasonable, especially with the app. I find that my grocery bills are cheaper here than other stores for sure.

A huge sprawling parking lot with enough space under one roof to get in a mile of walking, if one were so compelled. This brings me to Target in Overland Park. Located in a safe and extremely close to most major roads and the interstate, almost anything you need since it's a Super Target. They do have a few employees walking around however you might have to hunt a bit to get them. However once you do, they're extremely willing to assist and friendly. Finally the place is always clean and well stocked with inventory so that's a huge bonus. Most items like pet food and accessories are in abundance, hardware and housing goods have most of what someone needs and the kitchen section has a lot of average equipment to great stuff depending on what you need. For example, the knife selection is horrible but mixers are just as good as anywhere else. I do all of my vitamin and specialty medicine (not prescription) from Target as it's the cheapest. If you're shopping for clothing, they do a pretty good job of maintaining many different sizes and keeping the clothes in their proper racks. Many other stores you can find the clothes just thrown about. The seasonal selection is decent but runs out pretty quick as they like to get the items in early, then restock only a few times, allowing it to run out well before the holiday. As for the food, it has what one has come to expect from Target, average products at a low cost however when it comes to fruit and veggies, they're much better than "mart" place of a "wall". The baked and homemade food items are average but better than that other "blue" store! They do have a pretty good bakery and they're the only one that sells Boston Cream Pie!!! I've also found they're the best for toys as I when I take my kids they have all most popular items and in bulk. So, if you want that GI Joe action figure, you probably will find it here. As for electronics, they have most of the newest gaming consoles, games and controllers however 4k media is limited, but that's a standard among all stores now as physical media continues to be replaced by inferior forms of content like streaming. Overall, Target is exactly what you expect anywhere and that's by design. The only real differences are subtle things that regionally might sell better at one place then another state won't offer a product as it won't make sense. Think of a heavy winter coat for sale in Texas - it isn't needed. Other than those items, it's Target so you already know what you want. This is the best Target around and will definitely save you trips to other stores.
