The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. This Goodwill store is located in LaBelle. There are different extra discount days posted on the outside window. Inside the store are two rooms of used and new clothes, household goods, accessories, toys, art, and misc. I always like checking out the bric-a-brac. There were a number of new items here including inexpensive 2 for $1 party supplies, sheets, candles, and clothing and accessories. This store has a tiny furniture section but they sell new mattresses. There is a community outreach center right in the store. It is nice to know that this store is providing jobs and that the money raised here is helping the community.

Chepo's is located over by the Labelle airport in a little strip mall with easy parking. Walking into the shop, it's set-up nicely, clean, smells like leather (which we loved) and has a decent selection of boots. However, we couldn't get anyone to come out and help us. Walking in, there was a lady and a little girl (maybe 5yrs old). The lady said hi and the little girl went running to the back while the lady sat there fixated on a Spanish soap opera. We were in the store probably a solid 5 min and the lady never made an effort to communicate with us, help us or get someone from the back. She just sat watching her soap opera. It was really odd, particularly if she's related to the owner/worker. We were the only customers in the store so it's not like they were off helping others. The little girl never came back and nobody ever came out. We tried to say hello to the back but still nobody. We finally left. I'm assuming this lady was a relative given her little girl went running to the back. If she perhaps didn't speak English, she could have still tried talking w/us (we understand quite a bit of spanish), motioning to us, use of google translate....or she could have said 1 minute and gone to the back herself. We finally left and went elsewhere. Unfortunately won't be returning or recommending to others.
