Have had issues with this pharmacy in the past,( insurance issues, problems with obtaining refills…read moreon diabetic supplies, etc.) . We stopped using Safeway approximately 2 years ago due to ongoing issues. Recently I decided to try Safeway again to have a prescription filled. When I went to the pharmacy to pick my items up, the pharmacist refused to fill the prescription, regardless of it being from a licensed healthcare professional within the state,( it was from a Telehealth visit- since we are rural , local providers are doing more Tele visits.) The pharmacist stated that even though I had a legitimite prescription from a licensed provider, he would NOT fill it, as he did not feel " comfortable". He told me this in front of a line of other patients. I was made to feel like a criminal. I will NEVER use the pharmacy again.

In comparison to the main 'other option' available in these parts (Starts with W...) the service here is absolutely exceptional. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I have brought in a prescription and, thinking I'd need to wait a bit, instead they had it filled within the time it took for me to say, "hey, I'm going next door to the grocery store, I'll be back for my Rx." Nope, they already had my Rx ready for me. I have never waited longer than maybe at MOST 10 mins for an Rx. Usually shorter. The phone refill service works well. Rather than a lengthy advertisement or list of useless options it goes right to refill an Rx. or speak with a pharmacist. Works GREAT. Have needed refills when Rx had no refills and they contacted doctor for me seamlessly to get what I needed in a most timely fashion. Have even chased down an Rx from a doc who said s/he'd call it in but hadn't gotten around to it by the time I was at the pharmacy looking for it. (again, at the W store they SAY they will do that but an hour goes by and they still haven't done it.) Price, as can be expected in any small-town pharmacy (vs. that 'W' store) are higher on some things. But they have also worked very well with me on selecting options I can afford or adjusting prices if they can. Will also get over the counter meds I'm looking for by special ordering if necessary. Very very much customer-service oriented. Highly recommend for every Rx need.

This is the best grocery store in gf. They have excellent customer service. They go out of their…read moreway to help find things, always friendly. They special order things in. No hassle returns. They price match without attitude. They bag (no charge for bags) your groceries and put them in the cart for you, and they know how to put things in bags (not too heavy, heavy things not on top of bread, bananas away from frozen...) They help you to your car if you have lots or heavy items. And the only store that I have seen that will actually give you an item free up to $10 off if the price scans in wrong, and has it posted, even if the customer doesn't know it's a law. Other stores Will get mad and pissy with the customer if you mention it. Also they don't have to call a manager for every little override, like other stores in gf. They trust their cashiers!

Last week I went in with my son to look at lego and knives, a pretty normal everyday, and usually uneventful, shopping trip for a father and son. However, that day things were far from that. A few minutes after our arrival, we were swarmed by four male members of staff, including the manager, Ray, and ordered out of the store. Not even given a chance to enquiry why. Just order out. Halfway to the front of the store, while having my personal space invade, the manager, Ray, finally told me why we were being ejected. I had a backpack. After I explained that my car was in the shop and that a backpack made the most sense for me to pack heavy groceries etc. home, and after I pointed out other customers with backpacks, rather than treating me like a person, or even just a good customer, Ray kept walking at me and repeating that I needed to leave. Later at the front if the store he called the RCMP, and told me I could wait there and they would escort me out. I waited, and while I did I saw a friend. She also had on a backpack. I asked her if she thought it was fair that the stores policy (only just pointed out to me) wax fair, seeing how it didn't seem to be equilateral enforced. Before she could answer, the manager, Ray, left in between us (this is all shown on the CT cameras and reviewed by the RCMP) and pushed me back. When I took out my phone to check the time, Ray then grabbed it, pushed me again, and then attempted to snap h my glasses off my face, saying that I didn't need them and that they were a disguise (I have one darkened lens due to an eye injury. When thr RCMP arrived I explained what had happened and that I felt threatened and was physically pushed. I also called corporate Canadian Tire and made a formal complaint. I do not expect anything will come of this. And I strongly believe that I was profiled and targeted by Ray and his staff at Castlegar Canadian Tire, because I have a bit of a scruffy appearance and odd-looking glasses. Why else would I be treated like a criminal while others at the same time with backpacks like mine, shopped freely without a swat year of red shirts descending on them. So, be warned. Leave your backpack at home or prepare for the corporate tire to roll right over you.

The prices are good, and just an all-around good store. The only reason why I took off one star is that they used to have a very good pharmacy and they have sold that to Walgreens. I understand the reason why is because Medicare and other insurance companies have made it extremely difficult to do the pharmacy business but how I wish they still had that as a service. I love my Bi mart
